Antenna

On my 89 LX the motor for my antenna makes a thunk thunk thunk sound when I hit the switch. My guess is that the motor works because the antenna moves some. The antenna however if kinda broke and bent. Can a guy just buy the mast part & change that out easy without changing the motor & everything? Just wondering how it's made.
