I just got back from a 2 week vacation and car will not start. It almost did, sputered, and then died. I can crank it for several minutes and it trys to fire but just sputers. This only if I hold the gas pedal to the floor.

It is a rebuilt engine with only a few k on it.

Does this sound like a fuel filter thing?

Did you get it to run? Maybe pour some gas down the carb & see what happens.

I smell gas in there. I read around on here and called my mecanic. It may be the dist. or rotor. He said these accords are notorious for grounding out the rotor?
I took the cap off and looked at it and it looked ok so I towed in and he hasn't called back yet.
I will post what I find out.

Take one of your spark plugs out & ground it to see if you getting spark while cranking it over. That'll let you know if your getting fire through the coil & distributor.
Edit- nevermind, I see you had it towed now.

It started right up for the mechanic!! Damb it, they must have some special touch!.:uh:

Anyway, he checked it all over and nothing is wrong with it. Sucks that just having it sit for more then a week does this to me every time.

I think I need to get the carb rebuilt or something.

put some fuel stabilizer in it too when you are going to park it for extended periods of time
