well i did the black box removal i still need to tweak it some but now i have a problem which has always been around it leaks oil
as far as i can tell it is leaking from the seperator which has several dry rotted/vulcanized tubes plus the o ring is rock hard that goes to the block.

any one know if this part of the pcv sytem is available on the aftermarket parts scene? if not
any ideas on what size the o-ring might be?
only thing not bad is the box itself otherwise all the hoses and seals are shot.

well i checked with a honda dealer and the oil/vapor seperator- they call it the breather chamber cover is still available.
the main box is $48.55, upper hose is $22.57,lower hose $16.05, o-ring $1.52 and the grommet probably $3.00
so anyone who has a pcv system that needs parts can still get them thru the dealer, yes i know prices seem high but hey at least they still make them.

The box itself is steel, there's nothing that can fail, replace the o rings and hoses and you are good, if you want to fix the issue with the plastic nipple at the top, pull it all out, even the plastic ring, and weld a bung to it, or find a rubber grommet that matches and use, an old type datsun pcv valve, it will push into the box on top and the end going to the manifold has standard pipe threads. This gives you many options to repair the hardened pcv lines

Or you can scavenge a breather box from an '86-'87 model year. Those boxes are all steel, including the nipple on top.

They have a plastic nipple, the entire thing pops out, leaving a hole in the top,I replaced everything on mine with fittings

There may have been more then one manufacturer of the box, I've seen two different kinds on the same year

Could it be a Japanese-built vs. US-built thing? There are a few little differences between the 2, and that might be one of them.

thats a very good possibility, even the ones with the plastic, all that can be pulled out and a plate welded to the box if needed, this one had the rubber O ring grommet and the plastic piece http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b205/moultriemanicmechanic/breather%20tank%20and%20catch%20can/IMG_0853.jpg?t=1371316029

yea I added a coolant passage box works best when hot, that's why it's insulated in factory form, if water vapor from the engine cools too fast it condenses out and goes right back to the oil, thats why your oil has to reach a certain temp to boil off all the water vapor from combustion
