Welp, its finally time for me to get my exhaust setup done. As we all know and despise me for, ive been looking at rice cannons, and i finally said, screw it, rice cannons stand out too much, cops already follow me down the street (no joke, county mounties in my area are assholes, had one follow me for no fewer than 2 miles trying to get me to do something illegal, for a mile of that tailgating like a SOB) and i decided to look at real mufflers. I love the way my stock exhaust looks, and one of my friends (92 Dodge Stealth) recently had a muffler welded on his stock system, a flowmaster. It sounds great! anyway, this is the muffler that i found that looks best for our cars, i can pick it up for 75 shipped on ebay, and my 2.25" catback piping will be custom made by a well trusted shop, recommended by several friends.

anyway, heres the muffler

ill have tips welded on by him as well, but it shud look damned good, almost like my stock SE-i muffler :D input please, tips, pointers etc.

magnaflow super turbo would be my choice, they flow a little better then the flowmaster.

looks good. i've never tried one, but i personally would be interested in how it looks size wise and sounds as well. i want to upgrade my exhaust presently, but don't want to have to resort to the paceshitter system because i hear the muffler sucks as far as sound goes.

Halxi, do you recomend this for a 86 hb lx-i? also was it mostly custom?

i cant give anybody a full rating on it until after i get my car running right

however, yes, it was fully custom, built from the following:
- pace setter header
- universal 2.25" res
- test pipe (with o2 insert)
- 2 4' sections of 2.25" pipe
- 1 90* U bend

i recomend you get 2 90* U bends, i had some problems towards the end (notice the horrid angle on it) without a 2nd one

i like it, but it wasnt exactly easy to peice together at school with classes going on

22inch resonator
high-flo cat
custom 2.25" piping
magnaflow 2.5 centered muffler (painted flat black)
magnaflow tip

total cost roughly $250-$400 depending on the custom piping cost and installation of parts.

Halix... who did your exhaust pipes?
Those cheat bends are bad for flow.

i did that last cut myself, i might replace it with a 45* bend here down the road, but i really needed to get my exhaust one, open header was getting annoying

i just have a strait pipe where my muffler was and the car isnt as loud as those stupid "rice cannons", it does howevr have a big beefy sound to it instead of that cackly crap every one else uses. sounds better then my friends crx, it mad him nervus to go mess around at the track. but, if you need to be really quiet run the muffler, also if it has dual out puts, you can really play some tricks on stupid people with what looks like true duals. man now i want to do my exousht better.:rice:  :smokin:

12-13-2005, 03:14 PM
If you don't have emission laws to mess with, then go for it. I have one, but don't get one off ebay unless you want to bend you exhaust for it to line up right.
