Here is my story: (i figured it may help someone)

I decided to replace my VAU (vacuum advance unit) because it wasn't holding the vacuum at all. It wasn't advancing timing all the way and when i push the brake pedal, the vacuum would fall and my idle would go down.

Where to order from:
Autozone, they don't even list them, don't bother.
Advance Autoparts, they list them, but they are for carbed Tec distributor. So it won't work for EFI. You can buy them from their online store at www.partsamerica.com the part number VC430 (manual trans) VC431 (auto trans). there should be no diff at them.

Pepboys, didn't bother to check with them.

Carquest, they said they can order it.

I ended up getting mine from local Honda dealership. cost: $85 + some change. Shipping time: 2days.

After replacing it, i got big improvments. The car accelerate harder. When i brake the idle doesn't drop, since the vacuum is sufficient enough to keep it advanced where it should be. It helped the idle a hole lot, it is smoother and engine sounds healthier overall.

I know some people wonder how to fix the idle problem when you brake, well guys, you may want to check your vacuum advance unit on the distributor.
