Picked up a cheap muffler from Canadian Tire. It has a 2" inlet and I believe the stock pipe for the 3g is 1.75" so what pipe dimentions would i use to convert that? I could just take the muffler in to test the fitting but can't say the same about my exhaust piping...

BTW don't tell me to get a 1.75"->2" adapter because it doesn't work that easily :p

I don't see how it would fit though.. The size difference is noticable (to me anyway). I'll just try to fit some adapters tomorrow I think. Welding isn't required is it?

nah..i bought the muffler and the small pipe that goes from the inlet to that flange righ near the wheel. I had to get the flange gasket from the dealer and i used a clamp where the muffler inlet was. its whisper quiet now

Like pimp86 says, just buy the adapter, clamp everything together, and use muffler cement to seal it.

I agree, I've used muffler cement with no problem (so far..3 months). Pack the fittings with muffler cement and tighten those muffler claps !!!

I used muffler cement to secure my EGR pipe to my header. I was thinking,"why not I'll never need to take it off". Wrong, 2 months latter the was was wrecked and I needed to take it off. It flat out would not come off. Even with out having anything in front of it, like no radiator it would not come off. I had to hack saw the pipe where it goes into the flange into the header. And then I used a nice snap-on deep socket and a 3ft cheater bar. That muffler cement WORKS!

Thanks. The muffler cement sounds a lot cheaper than getting it welded! I'll work on it tonight and let you know if my car blows up or not.
