i've got the shift linkage off it by loosen the the two bolts but how do you get the ball to come out of its socket?

talk to carl (CARBurn) he is one dude i met has a short throw shifter. ANdyeah, nver forget to tighten all the bolts and keep ur stock bolts safe. NEVER THROW ANYHING AWAY LIKE BOLTS.

I'd never throw away extra bolts.....hehehe.....it was a hidden snap ring down in the socket. ....there was so much grease on the ball and nylon socket I couldn't see that it was holding it in

how much did u pay for it? it was pacesetter right?

yeah.....i could have got it for 50 bucks at nopi but they kept dicking me around on the shipping so i went ahead and got it at carparts for 60 bucks which i could have used a coupon but didn't have any handy....oh well 10 bucks isn't the least i've blown on it. It was pacesetter.....I really couldn't find any other brands....I looked

M,Y FRIEND JUST CUT THE LINKAGE IN HIS 87 CIVIC HATCH AND I THINK IT WOULD BE THE SAME AS BUYING ONE CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG

ok well i will.....the linkage would be very difficult to cut and then reweld and i'm no geometry wizard but it seems as though then it would be too short to reach the tranny. I think the throw can only be adjusted as to the location of the ball on the shift lever.

remove the circular clamp inside the socket, inside the car and pop it out. There will be a part wrapped around it. Keep that and install it on your new shifter. Installation is opposite of removal.
