When I accelerate from a stop, I hear ONE click/clunk from BOTH the rear sides. I'm positive that it's from the rear wheel area. Something seems to be loose, when the whole car moves, they try to catch up and thus the noise.

What could it be? My rear ball joints are about 5yr old. Bushings? loose bolt? Hint please.

Thanks.

visionguru, I had a similar problem years ago- turns out my rear brake shoes were "sticking" to my drums due to over-adjustment. If your car has had any rear brake work recently this could be the problem.

That could be it! Before I changed rear brake shoe recently, I wasn't aware of this clicking noise. Thanks for the tip.

When noise comes from my rear end, I know that I've had beans for lunch. P U.
