Well I did a little more work today :-)

http://geminiwebhosting.ca/images2/DSC00301s.jpg

http://geminiwebhosting.ca/images2/DSC00302s.jpg

^^^ I need at least one more layer of fiberglass here :-|

http://geminiwebhosting.ca/images2/DSC00303s.jpg

Started to fix another problem area today aswell... I needed to sandblast the whole area because it was so rusty.... Gawd I love my sandblaster :-) I'm Acutally getting better at using it now ;-)

To Anyone looking to buy a sandblaster: DO IT... I have saved enough time on this one project to justify what I paid and I have just a small 5 gallon pressure pot!

More work :-) More layers of fiberglass as well I did some small primering all over the car ;-)

More Work :-)

http://geminiwebhosting.ca/images2/DSC000008s.jpg

http://geminiwebhosting.ca/images2/DSC000010s.jpg

This time I was able to finish sanding and primming the drivers side.

http://geminiwebhosting.ca/images2/DSC00013s.jpg

http://geminiwebhosting.ca/images2/DSC00015s.jpg

I also sprayed more sound dampening/undercoat spray all on the inside of the metal to reduce as much sound as possible :-) Great stuff to work with if your have nice gloves :-)

Oh after that I dropped the LX tank to put the EX-i tank in and notice a bit of a difference :-)

You're really cleaning that car up nice, man!

Gemini2003
10-22-2006, 02:36 PM
Thank you Speedpenguin I am really trying to do a decent job here.

There are a couple remaining holes in the structure that you can see.... I am going to deal with those after the quarter panel has been welded on. They don't look like they provide any strength anyway but I will take care of them after :-)

The next step now for bodywork is to get my panel welded on.

The next step I'm doing is swapping the tank over and laying B-Quiet Extreme in my trunk.

Thanx for stopping by!

hmm what other colors are u going to go with?

Gemini2003
10-28-2006, 05:31 PM
The above orange is not very close to what I want.

I'm wanting the make one of my interior accent colors to be the exact same color of the paint job. So think of a nice burnt metallic orange similer to below ( I want mine a little darker ) :

You know... I've come to realize that yes my car is defiantly going to have some ricer aspects to it.... BUT... on the other hand my "ricer" will have a fully redone motor (with double the horse power hopefully), a fully redone exterior, redone interior and NICE sound system.

The fact I've put so much effort into this to me doesn't classify me as a ricer...

Just to clarify.

OH.... and my window? LOL It's broken from that fucking shopping cart so i just used a filter on it so you couldn't tell the Cracks are there :-)

Was it really hard to align? Did you bust holes frequently? Those panels are a bitch to weld in place.

Gemini2003
12-20-2006, 10:42 AM
It didn't take Doug long to get the hang of welding the thin metal... yeah it was a bitch to align, however with two guys (who have not done this before BTW) we managed to do awesome! :-) It feels so good to be able to fininally close that facking door again :-)

Wow. I just wanted to say that you rock. Hardcore. Just by looking at the pics you put down have been showing me what it takes to get decent bodywork done. While my 3G is in pretty good shape on the rust, I just bought a G1 Legend that's sorely in need of a rustectomy. This definately gives me inspiration to repair that sucker instead of letting it sit and rot some more. Once again, thanks a lot!

The propane torch (A tiger torch) is used to heat our Shop. It's noisy but it only takes like 5-6 min to heat up my section now that I've insulated it.

We have a big fan and I was using it to blow the hot air from the ceiling onto the B-Quiet to warm it up and that worked great. You can see the B-Quiet in the first pic sitting on the car.

Thanks... see you later!

:Edit (forgot something):

I would like to mention that working with B-Quiet Extreme is Excellent for a first time user. For Prep I washed the metal with soapy water. The instructions read that no heat gun is required and that applying the B-Quiet at or above room temperature is all that's needed (EASY!). I did just that :-D ... after the first hour of working with it you start to get a feel on the shapes and cuts that are needed for each section. As for cutting I didn't even use a good knife I just held a utility knife blade in my hand which worked fine for me. It's minus 20 Celsius here so if the B-Quiet was going to fall off due the cold it would have tonight (and still hasn't).

So overall B-Quiet Seems excellent coming from a first time user POV I can't wait to see how much quieter it will be in may car. I have 100 Sq ft and I intend on using every inch I can and doubling up in some areas.

I don't know it's hard to say... I used close to 50 ft doing the trunk and trunk lid.. however trunk kits are between20 and 30 sq ft...

So I was thinking I'd show you guys quickly how I have the shop setup... I don't know if anyone will care but it wont hurt :-)

I heat the shop with my Tiger Torch... It goes through about $5 worth of propane every time I use it:

http://geminiwebhosting.ca/images2/DSC00610ss.jpg

That thing blows hot air and I circulate it with my two fans... which are directed into mycar to heat the interior metal at the moment :-)

http://geminiwebhosting.ca/images2/DSC00608s.jpg
http://geminiwebhosting.ca/images2/DSC00611s.jpg

You can see below that it's really cramped when I have the shop devided in two by poly... It really keeps the heat in :-) Additionally it heats up faster :-)

These lights where a Great investment for $25... 500W each side :-P :-)

Thank You all once again for all your support! Until I get get my windows all the way up I'm FINALLY done the sound dampening... I don't even wanna count the hours I put into that.

Started bondo work tonight... (learning as I go) :-P

http://geminiwebhosting.ca/images2/DSC00833s.jpg

My concept for the interior is evolving as I go... I'm finding that I want to incorporate a bunch of little things that would be cool but would waste a lot of time.

25 Days 'Till I get my licence back.

Today I did some work on my front driver fender to learn how to bondo.

http://geminiwebhosting.ca/images2/DSC00840s.jpg

My friend and instructor Bob is doing the rear quarter panel. You can't even tell the quarter panel has been replaced!! As he is doing this I'm learning from him and working on the fender to learn how to use it better and mix it better.

Before:

First coat of bondo after sanding the area down:

It's definitely not CVCC.

CVCC has the third valve in a seperate mini-chamber from the main combustion chamber.

No the first Honda DIESEL motor came in like 2002, it's the Circle L motor.

But in reality the circle L motor is a tweaked Isuzu Diesel that GM Traded honda for a V6 and a Transmission for the Saturn Vue Redline's

But yeah! that A20 IS LOOKING GREAT!

.... Mind boggling isn't it? The worst part is I've all ready taken half this much to the dump. I've gone through 3 accords in total in the last year and a bit.

In the top left you can see the Custom bars From Justin... I will be test fitting them shortly and then the plan is power coating.

http://geminiwebhosting.ca/images2/instrument.jpg

Mr.R uses this $800 instrument for all his engine torques. He has three of these all similar. I will tell you that one of the most important things I've learned is the value of a good tool. I would never have spent $50 or $60 on a good wratchet a year ago.....

In the last few day's I've been concentrating on the body work aspect of things as I'm learning bondo I'm getting better... I have a big problem laying too much down still... oh well... for a break I went to suspension and threw in my right side suspension (front and rear)... I ran into a shitload of problems like you always do on old cars... The Upper Ball joint and tie rod end where rusted on and wouldn't budge (untill I bought Liquid Wrench) Additonally the rubber mount in the lower control arm was rusted together..... I had to cut the old strut by the wishbone and then buy a Porpane torch. The torch worked great to hea tthe old bolt and allow me to twist it out. I still end up having to replace my lower control arm as I have no way of removing the old bushing.
