Transmission making crunch

Hey Im wondering if this is normal on a cold start whenever I switch gears on the tranmission it goes crunch and is terrible especially when going to Park, where it goees cruuuuuuuuuurt then when the engine is hot and has been running for a while then its not as loud or much of a noise but still does grunts.

3g automatic transmissions arent the best... :( how many miles on yours? most people go thru a tranny or two, then consider manual swap/ :)

its 'normal' when a tranny is starting to go for it to make those noises. u could try flushing the tranny fluid (not sure how to do that on an auto) it helped the smoothness of shifting on my 5 speed
