Im getting ready to do a compression test on my 87 lxi. I've done some searching on the board as well as looking through the Honda manual i downloaded off here but I have yet to find an exact answer. SO what is the regular compression level for our cars? From what I read 150psi is ok as long as its not any lower. But i couldnt find the stock reading. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

well it depends on your engines static compression, but in general around 170PSI is great. The main thing your looking for is that all cylinders are close to the same.

Typically we see a good A20 putting out about 165-180.

I'm not exactly sure on what the numbers are, but 165-180 p.s.i. sounds about right. I seen that 142 p.s.i. is the lowest you want to be at. I personally have 150 across the board & I'm not happy with it.
Use the screw in type compression gauge, take out all your spark plugs, block the throttle plate wide open, disable the coil from the distributor. Take the fuel pump relay out also. Here is a how to I did on compression test.

make sure there is no ore than 15% difference between each cylinder ,, but 150 is ok,,,

20% difference by A.S.E. standards

I'd rather keep my mouth shut on a dropping compression as the motor wears past 150 p.s.i.........

Well thanks for all the replies, Im decided Im going to shoot for around 155psi. That would be enough to satisfy me. Ill let you all know the results when I do the test.
