hey guys, i'm putting together a cheap sound systems in the accord since i only drive it during winter. anyhow, i'm pretty sure the 6x9 rear jensens will fit just fine without a problem. but i was wondering if 6.5's will fit in the front without a problem? or should i just get some 5.25's?
these will be running of a jensen 4ch amp . and a stock 97 integra headunit
hmm maybe i can get jensen to sponsor me :D... lol jk

TIA

get infinity reference series shallow mounts, they run about 580-100$ depending on where u get them. they should fit the stock baskets....

there are some that require u to cut parts of the basket, like the back part, but eh, i'm almost certain the infinity ones will fit perfectly.

they sound nice too, i have those in all four corners of my corolla. (non-shallow mounts tho)

i bought normal infinity reference 6.5"s and i had to dremel the shit out of the plastic basket, but no other modifications were required. :)

i love the infinity speakers... but i dont want to spend that much money on this car. the better stuff is going into my mr2 :). anyhow... guess i'll try the 6.5's, and if they dont work i'll have to resort to the 5.25's

thanks

unless you get shallow mount 6.5's yuo have to cut out the back of the basket in the front door.

Theres no way in hell to put 6 x 9s in the stock mounts

UNLESS

you go between the 2 mounts and the brake light and cut the fabric inbetween the 2 mounts, for some reason, theres a perfect 6 x 9 space there, i did it way back when i didnt know anything about audio, but hey, they fit and it worked

both lx-i that i have owned have had 6x9 mounts :)... i dont see how mounting the 6x9 will be an issue if the car came with stock 6x9's:dunno:

in the front 6x9's dont fit, 6.5's do (on se-is only i believe). in the rear, 6x9's fit no problem tho

now that's crazy talk... i never mentioned placing 6x9's in the front, not sure where that came from. i was asking if i could fit 6.5's in the front without window interference. speaking of which, i still have yet to get my speakers that i won on ebay for $20 a pair...

i thought only the SE-i's had 6 x 9s, i do have these spaces in the caging that seem like they were for 6 x 9's, but the actual mounted speakers are 6.5s

i dunno... maybe only coupe lx-i's & all(?) se-i's came with the 6x9 mounts. i'll post up some pics tonight :)

it sounded to me like someone was talking about putting 6x9's in the front. i thought that all accords cud have 6x9's in the back...

i dont see why you couldnt have the 6x9's in the back... all you need is the factory mounts. iirc, back when my old accord was stolen and stripped of my sound system, they broke my mounts and i paid somewhere around $40-50 to get them replaced at honda.

^^^ well after replacing the stock headunit witht he integra stock headunit... the speakers didnt sound so popped anymore. they're not the best sounding speakers... the jensen i'm replacing them with probably wont be the best either, but they will be better than the stock ones :).

i put 6x9's in my old LX...no i didn't go get the mounts or nothing, altho i could have, i went the cheap way, and zip tied em....sounded fine. =P

out of all the speakers i've heard, i'd say Infinity, Alpine, Pioneer, and Polk are about as good as it gets.

LX: came with 5.25" front 6.5" rear
LXi: came with 5.25" front 6x9 rear
SEi: came with 4" front 6x9 rear (bose)

i think...it's a sticky somewhere, dont wanna look it up.
