UPDATE on my car (mkymonkey) oh yeah 56k die!

ok so, i got my new suspension setup installed on wednesday, and i think its time to post up some pics. I bought Mr. Dereck's (Busted_Blue) old setup, Tokico 1" drop springs and Tokico Struts as well as his "Justin's Strut Bar." Well i've got to say, it feels freakin awesome! its a lot stiffer than stock, thats for sure. my stock setup was very bouncy in a very soft way, and this is completly different. once i got it done, i went down to my favorite curve, which i usually take it at a max of 45 mph. But dude! now i can take it at over 65mph. wow! what a difference. well enough talk here are the pics

yeah performace does feel better. actually, i dont get as much chrip as i used to, now the car feels like it grips the road a better at each take off. anyway the lip is from a stock 89 acura integra. just bolts on, but a very tight fit. i followed superaccord's instructions on how to install it. i had to use half inch spacers all around to get it to line up the way it does. if i didnt the lip wouldnt really go witht he lines of the bumper.

anyway thanks cory, and to your demise, i havent even touched the hood since you last saw it. i was going to do it on these days off that i had from work, but my brother wanted to drive my car around while he was here so all i did was spend my days at home in my couch listening to a bunch of concert dvds. well listening and watching lol. ill post the pics up as soon as i can. and you guys will see what a stupid mistake i did and tried to correct on my CAI. :(

i like it too, the funny part is that it was one left over from my cai project, and i was going to throw it away, i just put it on the lip because i wanted to see if it would fit, so i could get a grey one, well it stuck on good and i didnt want to take it off because i was afraid it would peel off the paint from the lip; so i left it there. after a day it grew on me and it looked like i belonged there since i got the lip idea from this site. ill post the pics up for everyone to see when i get home. :D

I really like the lip. It looks like it was meant for the car :) and the drop isn't so intrusive that its like "woah" but, if performance is what you were looking for then it seems like you got it! And for the xzbit comment you guy's forgot the most important part...

YEP! unfortunatly i got oil and some other goop on the cai. well i had some goo gone and well started to rub it off, it came off really good, but it started to rub off the 3geez :( so well i had to take it off and paint it red :(:(:( so now i have no cool 3geez CAI. damn it! well i can always do another one. but time is money and i have no money nor time. so im fucked for now lol

u shud put a breather on the cai tho, ur getting unfiltered air through the valve on your pipe, should really do something about it.

and i went to the junkyard not 20 mins ago, fucking place had 3 tegs, 20 3geez (i dont need anything anymore) two of the tegs were LS's and only one had a lip, and the one with the lip was messed up, cracked, chipped, basically garbage. check out my cardomain for pics, ive got one of the fender and headlight assembly on there.

for comparision, I took off my S/T Sway bars and drove it around even on the koni reds and tokico springs and it was like a truck. You think it handles so well now, imagine when it has proper sway bars.

wow really? well come help me do all of that especially the engine swap, since you think its so easy as just listing everything. oh and yeah it is a CF hood just looks very opaque because its being sanded.

I know i dont have the best sound system in the world but I just got another amp wired into it...so it sounds better. Keep in mind that all the wiring was done while i was at work. So its kinda sloppy and not very good lookin. Plus the Alpine deck i have unfortunatly does not have RCA's for the amps so i had to wire everything through high level input. Anyway enjoy!

I bought this sucker for only 80 bucks from the same buddy that let me borrow the JL 4-channel amp. Meh i have nothing bad to say about it. its the lowest model of alpine so it doenst have tons of features but..it does have that alpine sound! Im going to get rid of it pretty soon to buy a new alpine deck. I put this one in because i didnt think i was going to keep the car when i first bought it. I guess look for it in the market place pretty soon ill probably want 50 plus shipping. ive only had it 2 mos.

ok so big update! my car is getting painted tomorrow! well they're going to start on it tomorrow. lol like i said before im going to try to paint it the stock color of an 05 camry but...if they're out of that color. (for some reason the places i went to before the one i chose, told me they were out of that color) im going to paint it gunmetal but a bit darker. anyway. i went to the junk yard to get the molding that im missing off the side of my car in the right 1/4 panel. and guess what i find? A FUCKING SEI MAN...AN SEI!!! so i got me some cupholders. and hopefully tomorrow im going to go get the rear disks Cory (Acid X) is going junk yarding with me, and well im going to try to get them if they're not there. (damn that was a long sentence!)

Anyway, the paint guy i talked to, told me that if i stripped my car instead of him, he would drop the price like 600 bucks. apparently he's way too busy to take on another paint job for the week. He's by boss's buddy from 1983 when he painted his chevelle and in 1994 painted his mustang. so i guess the guy does good work for my boss to drop a couple thousand on him for two paint jobs.

its a lip off of an 89 integra ls. the only prob is that it was kinda riced out and well it was painted white. lol so all cory has to do is remove the paint with some sand paper. it should be farely easy because the ricer that owned the car didnt even use automotive paint. it was you know regual wall/household white paint! lol anyway i also bought some things that were bothering me about my car. like a shift boot and a passenger sun visor, mine is all tore up

unfortunatly..my car is still not done. when i got the phone call from my boss he forgot to mention that they're still working on the hood. and the part that kinda sucks is that the painter said that the hood might not be able to make it as a raw CF. so i told him if he cant shine it to where the hood looks new..paint it oh well i can always buy another one.

well unfortuatly i went a completly different route than what i said i wanted and was going to do. i saw the for sale thread in the marketplace from mrrlx for some 14" enkei mesh wheels...black with a polished lip. well needless to say i bought them and they're actually pretty nice looking on the newly painted 3g. which by the way is back together and up and running. the only problem i have right now is that i have to change my brake pads. so im not driving the car for safety reasons. i should be able to change them later on today.

anyway i have taken pics of the in process rebuild of the car and the ending result of course. but unfortunatly i havent been able to download them to my computer nor upload them to imageshack. i have to wash the car really good and get rid of all the fucking almost caked on ash from all the forrest fires here in orange county. once that is done and all the fires are gone im going up to the hills and take some nice pics to post.

my car looks pretty nice right now but im having second guesses about the color i chose. i think i should have gone with a darker grey but it actually looks exactly as i planned it...but again my plan probably was not what i was looking for. as weird as that sounds

i already looked into the bigger tire shit and found some bf goodrich's (actually the only ones i found, apparently people arent fond of 14" rims) 205/65/14. and i think the pic really doesnt do it justice. the car looks actually lower. and it feels lower as well. it takes some effort to get out. you know me im fat! lol

oh and i am getting new rims. just not now. prob in another three mos. i decided on the heliums. though you guys didnt like them. super autobacs always has deals on them. when we went over there they had them for 595 with kuhmo (sp?) ecsta's. so i think im going with those. ill take better pics i promise damn!

you'll notive that i dont have a front grille. reason being that its broken! i have to go buy another one from the jy and paint it to match the rest of the trip pieces up front.i guess my car looks like its a hillbilly cuz its missing the front grille lol. anyway any comments are welcom even the crappy ones

edit: i also need to paint the moldings again cuz uh...well they look like shit right now. i used the back to black shit from mothers and they look alright for now. but i will have to paint them again. i actually had the bumpers painted already but for some reason the stupid painters sanded them down and didnt paint them. there is still some problems with the paint. i have some dents that they didnt take care of. they ripped my vin plate off of the door jams and didnt paint under it. i talked to the guy and he said that i had to wait 30 days for the paint to cure before they could fix what they missed. so its all gravy i guess

yeah i do have a CF hood. the only thing is that it has a couple problems with the previous clear coat so when i got the car painted i asked the guy to sand it and put another coat on there. you can see its CF in person but in these pics, because of the light you see more of a reflection because of the clear coat.

and yeah the next step is turbo. i just have to find one and start getting the parts first. :D

actually i was thinking of tinting the tail lights but i also thought about the red tails. i have to give it some thought. first. probably going to photoshop a few pics before i decide. im also already looking for some jdm turn signals.

oh and my car was not blue it was monterey green. anyway..matt i dont want to get rid of the hood, i want a new one. unfortunatly this is a grade B hood. it started to develop, what i call, cancer. some parts of the hood look very cloudy and opaque. i tried to sand it myself and i also asked the painter to do it. finaly i said fuck it just clear coat the fucker. he did and the hood actually looks pretty good compared to what it used to look like. im still goint to buy a new one though, not only because of that but because this hood has been around and the holes drilled by the previous owners to mount the grille and the actual hinges are starting to give out. i had to drill new holes to mount it this time. and im pretty sure once i get the new grille, ill have to drill new ones there too. oh well its a project.



anyone want it after i get the other one??? lol



edit: shit i didnt even answer your question ddude2uc, the paint job is supposed to be a 1600 dollar one, but since the painter is actually a friend of my boss's (he painted his chevelle back in the 80's and i think a mustang in the early 90's, plus a camaro and another mustang a couple months ago) he did it for 850. but i had to strip my car of the moldings and other pieces. he still overlooked a couple of dents here and there but like i mentioned above (somewhere) he's going to fix it after the paint "cures". and thanks for the AOM comment, i could only hope

JUST A LIL UPDATE

so i bought a few things for my car. A new set of fog lights that are actually yellow for that JDM look. i think they're either 3" or 2.5" round fogs. and have an H3 bulb in them. so if they're not yellow enough, i can always buy some yellower ones lol. i also bought a new valve cover from the jy. well its not "new" but you know what i mean. why did i buy a new one? well cuz im bored of my red one and i saw a pic of a valve cover with that vht wrinkle paint and well...i want one. this was actually my first plan when painting the valve cover but couldnt find the paint for under 20 bucks (that includes the shipping from ordering online). but since i saw that damn pic i said fuck it ill spend the 20 bucks. lol i actually paid 17.87 with cali taxes and shipping from summit. so a new valve cover will come to my car :D (i know i know kinda stupid, but hey my money so whatever :shrugs: ) im also purchasing that turbo from one of the members here. he actually started a thread. im meeting him tomorrow by his school to pay for it. it just needs to be rebuilded...which is no problem. i have a turbo company right down the street from work that will do it for under 80 :D

and non 3geez related>>>>> i also purchased the weather vision light bulbs from phillips that someone posted on here for my civic as well as a CAI for it :D well money spent i guess

Hey monkey I got a suggestion for you. I noticed how awesome your new rims look, in fact they look almost exactly like the rims I had on my Fiero. Well the one thing that looks out of place is the shiny little lug nuts. I know how to cure that though.

Go to autozone and get a few lugnuts for an 86 Fiero SE, (I'm pretty sure they'd fit). Get the ones with the "outer threading", that will allow you to steal some of those little black caps off of a Pontiac (Grand Am, Grand Prix, Fiero, etc...) Trust me it will look much nicer ;)

so i got the intake for the civic...im just waiting on another few things to come in for more updates. btw this intake was from egay and it was only 10.99 bucks with free shipping! i dont know how i got to it and dont have the link at the moment but...its a steal man. :lol: according to the UPS site my weathervision lights should be in tomorrow and the fogs for the 3gee should be in the day after. the paint from VHT should be in about two days later.

well, the bar hasnt been installed yet. i tried but gave up after two hours of hammering the damn bump to get it to fit. im only about 1/4" off from the other bracket that connects the bar. it sucks cuz i know it will work but i just got tired of laying on my back trying to bend that damn drain thing for the trunk. oh well, ill give it another try on another day.

and kevin, thats good that you actually think about the warranty for your car. most people just think, fuckit its worth the 3hp a damn pipe will give me! lol. did you get that whole free oil change thing with it? cuz i would do the same thing as you with a new car. the warranty on the civic just ran out, its way over 36,000mi and been way past 3 years. kinda sucks that my girlfriend didnt get the 10year warranty that santa ana honda offers for a bit more change. oh well, i didnt know her at the time...so im not mad at her.
