I bought a new set of tires the other day, and thought I would throw a tread together of Wheel, tire, and suspension set-ups, and how you like them so people have an idea of what to do to their own 3G'z. I have 15x7 wheels (off my sis' '02 Si) Yokaham Avid H4S 195/60-15 on stock suspension...I have 2" drop springs, but no shocks!!(Tokicos on way) What you got??:ugh:

i got a 2" Drop on Progress Group Progressive Springs and Konis. The Rims are Borbet Type E (offset +35mm, 17.5 lbs) and Tires are Bridgestone Potenzas 205-50-HR15. Rides good, lots of traction in rain and dry. Snow is pretty noticeable and balanced as opposed to stock tires.

You can't get much lower than that. How's the ride quality? How does the 2.25" drop handle the speed bumps? What did you get your Bilsteins revalved at?

TIA.

Peace.

Ahhh, you can go lower than 2.25, Watcher.
I have 2.5 front, 2.25 rear, ST springs, with the pinchforks modded. So I am running on a total of 3 inces in the front.
With Koni reds front and Tokico Blues in the rear.
16 inch Amp1 wheels with 205/40R16 Falcon Zexius Xi326 tires, and I still havn't found the limits yet.
Awsome wet traction, and unbelievable dry. Snow and ice on these though is a different story.

Sorry I didn't reply to this but the 2.25" is pretty good over speed bumps. I've made it over some I thought I'd never be able to. My exhaust hangs pretty low under the rear lower control arm so that's really the only concern underneath, it is the lowest part of the car. I have to be careful with dips tho so I don't smack the front end on the pavement. I did bottom out once while racing. Apparently shot some sparks out but hey, it's all in good fun. I'm pretty sure my Bilsteins are at 300/100. Not totally sure. I just told them my spring rates and they picked what was good.

Ive got Intrax 1.7" drop springs, with HP Tokico Blue's, rolling on 16x7 Nippon F2's wrapped in 205/45/16 General Exclaim UHP's.

Im VERY impressed with my tires for being something ive never even heard of.

Here are a few pics of right after the drop, then with new rims/tires.

im satisfied with them, ZERO traction in the snow on them though... but thats not surprising for a "summer sports tire"

I plan to pickup Justins set of bars (strut bars/tie bars) sometime soon.

those rims look bloody amazing, who'd you order them through? how much?

The EDFC is good, but we dont have any coilovers available for the 3g that it can work with. Unless we get a different coilover kit from a different car that is modded to fit ours, the damper setting controller will remain a dream.

The original purpose of this thread was to post pics, and tell waht mods you had to your wheels, tires, suspension, so people interested in upgrading would be able to see what it will look like before they do so...

My car is completely, totally stock with the 14" aluminum wheels it was born with. I didn't see much point in posting that since everyone already knows that works.

So instead I figured I'd post some usefull info about some budget options. Given the title of the thread, (Wheels, Tires, Suspension... * * * What works on 3Gz?? * * *)and some of the other info posted in the thread, I thought the info and links might be appriciated.

If you get the chance, you might want to check some of the pics found at the second link. Some of the "stock" aluminum wheels I found that fit 3geez look every bit as nice as the big bucks aftermarket ones, but at junk yard prices!

Just in the volkswagen section alone I found wheels that look like they come off a ferrari f40 and another set that look like wheels from an enzo ... and they should fit OUR cars!

*Edit: hehe ... f40 wheels, red paint job, a wing and an airdam, and shaved emblems on a 4door LXi ... wouldn't that just confuse the poor folks that dont know a classic Honda when they see it!

BustedBlue used a MINI Cooper 15" 5.5 4x100 45mm.

Is this what your were thinking of A20A1??? :dunno:

Light too, 12 lbs. :)

When I first saw BustedBlue's rim, it reminded me of the old Lamborghini Diablo rims (the big circles). :) Kinda sexy.

yeah..there's a lot of wheels with the same bolt pattern but you guys need to also keep in mind that some wheels may have a smaller center bore or differnet offset.

BTW, love the pics guys. keep it coming. i would get pics of my car but it's not an accord-so sorry!

Hey guys, I'm new and drive an 86 Dx Hatch. Will the suspension parts listed for the 2/4Dr 3g's work on the hatch? What about other parts like brakes? Sorry to deviate from the topic.

AZmike

The mechanical parts of the hatch (brakes, suspension, engine, drivetrain, etc) are the same as the coupe and sedan.
