blank switch plate knockout removal

i want to locate a manual choke in the switch slot next to my power mirror switch.
so far i have tried:
1. gently pry it out-no luck pry harder?
2. feel behind and push from back not any better than prying it out.
any suggestions? is mine just a little stuck and needs more aggressive pulling out? i dont want to destroy it as i will be using it for a decorative cover with a slot cut in it for the new choke handle. i am already using the switch next to the cruise control button for fog lamps.

reach up from the bottom of the dash and push it out. 2.5 seconds.

Mine were in there tight. I had to really jam a screwdriver in at the bottom to get it out. Kinda scratched it up some but that's the only way I could get it.
