it just wont idel. it idels when its cold but as soon as it warms up it will not idel whats the problem.

thermovalve... ? would a burnt valve do this? when i spray carb cleaner down the carb it fixed for a little while

no a thermovalve... a valve that is based on coolant temperature.

warm the car up and when it starts acting funny, try removing the air filter lid and see if the problem goes away...

also check to see if the choke is open.

if it this thermovalve can i replace it? and how do i know if the choke is open the flap is down or up

im not sure what this is called but when my bro was working on his LX and he had the air induction box off, and there is a vacuum line on the air induction box that connects to the rear of the vacuum line rail or however you would call it, and when ever he put his finger over it the idle was fine, but if you release it the idle would be horrible, just a thought, could be a vacuum leak

oh p.s. when the car was warming up the idle was fine, but when teh idle went down because it warmed up it was crap until the above^^^

i have the same prob but i think my idel screw is backing out cause when i adjust it its fine but if a take it up past 4k rpm it wants to just stll out

the flap should be verticle if it's open.

themovalves are replaceable... but you should get a service manual and follow the instructions to see if they are faulty.


A good tool to have is a vacuum gauge + hand pump.

well took the air lid off started to idle again but now it wont run right starts crapping out ill floor it like I do all the time but insted of red lining it craps out sounds like a rolling of the toung:) time or a civichb

where is this thermo valve? cause it barly runs right now i called the auto parts store and ask them if they had any and they had no idea what it was so is there a nother name for it?

In some cases... but that shouldn't be the only way to fix the problem or you'll end up with 6 new carbs everytime something not on the carb acts up.
