i grabed this t25 off ebay. its from a 2g eclipse. its for a small a20 turbo build. i really know nothinng about turbos so i dont mind my first one being small. dont plan on going over 12 psi or reving past 6k so this one will do. i am gonna build my own manifold. if anyone comes accross a 1g dsm bov or like some 330 injectors (or what even numbewr is close) let me know, they must be cheep

i am going with a small fmic, i seen them new for about $110-120

i am not really building this motor, just slaping on the turbo and having fun. if i run into more money ill build the a20 i have in my basement.

i am building (still gathering parts) a b20b for my hatch, i have a b18a that is going in the hatch before the b20 to get everything ready while i am building up. '

for future projects i have a d16z6, d16y5, and a d15b in my basement. ill prob take the 3 and make a nice oem mini me

thats about the size i was looking for when i wanted a fmic but i think it would be even better for people not see the intercooler and have a stock dsm bov and it would be less piping and cutting and just seems easier....

I heard it's really difficult to turbo a carb. The question I have is it easier with the t25 or should I give up on the prospect?

And stay away from ballbearing turbos you cant rebuild them (well you can but $$$$$$$)

There are two ways to turbo a carb... they are not as easy as efi.
If you blow thru you have to pressurize the fuel and carb properly.

If you draw thru you have to make sure you have the correct turbo with the carbon seal? to keep from sucking up oil out the turbo when the throttle of the carb closes.

Draw thru can cause carb icing, which will cause the throttle to stick open.
Draw thru does not offer the use of an intercooler.

Fuel Injections just better anyways....

98HP carb
120hp FI

You may have the same trouble the CB'ers have, but not sure seeing as how A20 is a 2.0 rather than 2.2 (F22)....I'm currently running a 14B (actually an upgrade from the T25) and @ 10 psi it runs out at about 4500 rpm. Boost drops off because turbo is already maxed out (14B and T25 have ability to boost up to 16 psi, but 14B flows more CFM), making my pwer band end pretty much a 4500...just thought I'd share, good luck man, and I'll keep you posted when I pull my 14B off, it's for sale.

bobafett
02-06-2006, 02:53 PM
yeah realistically i bet a 16g would be much better suited for good peak power at 6000+ rpm... at least for a car that plans on running more than 10psi. :)

or since 16g's arent super cheap, u could just buy a t3/t4. :)

KoNEY

Yeah, I was actually considering a T3/T4 60-trim with a .58 AR and running that @ 10-11 psi, CFM's would be off the hook, but lag baby, laaaaaaagggg. I guess if I don't find a good used 16G to rebuild, I'll just get a brand new one or if all else fails I have a locked up T3/T4, maybe could rebuild it if it's not too bad....:toilet:

http://www.cheapturbo.com

t3/t4 options are very reasonably priced. :-)

i am going to be using t3/t4 .60compressor/.63 turbine with a 57 trim strage III turbine wheel. :) the turbo is rated at like 650cfm. :) 400whp+ capable, not that i would ever reach that mark. ;-)

http://store.yahoo.com/cheapturbo/gat357trw63a.html - that is basically the turbo i have. bought it online for just over $400. :) brand new!

EDIT: hey koney what times are u pulling with a 14b setup on your 4g? i have a buddy with a 4g and im trying to talk him into boosting his... he has the f22a4? i think, its the 16v sohc non-vtec... but im guessing the dsm manifolds can still be modified to fit... im curious if u have dyno'd ur car or got in any track time. :) he spent '$7000' supposedly on his supercharged corrado, and it ran 15.4's with 15psi lol... so hopefully this accord can do a little better...

lol. Was the seller named david nesgoda (or was it shipped form washington) by any chance, lol. One of my coworkers just sold that exact same turbo on ebay. I don't know if that is his or not. He was trying to build a turbo d16z6 on his '96 shivic, lol. Good luck. Much love for the turbo 3geez :D.

How difficult is it to actually make the turbo manifolds for these anyway? Seems like alot of work, but worth it i'm sure.

You're gonna love the turbo maing....just work out any bugs you might have, like the cfm dropoff for lack of turbo size, but that T25 will do way more than what a stock A20 does. As for manifold, I'd get something big enough to support a p&p head and turbo upgrades (KoNEY thinks quietly to himself about a GT35R on a 3G and begins hardness phase one....lol)

It's running mid 14's...considering its not tuned isn't that bad. The power practically runs out though after 4500 rpm, like let off the gas. I'm saying tuned I could be pushing about 200-210 whp and anywhere from 215-225 wtq....I want the 16G though. W/16G I could be pushing a tuned 240 or so whp and around 270 wtq....plenty for a street Honda...F22A4 EX motor swapped in with 8K miles....DSM manifold fo sho!!! If he wants to go turbo I'd prolly sell mine for like $75 when the 16G goes on...:rice:
