Hi Guys,
Well, the right CV axle on our Legend almost broke a week ago when We were taking my friend Dave (his username on here is Logic) home, so he is letting us drive his '88 Accord LX-i sedan until it gets fixed.

Anyway, there are a few things I would like to know about the LX-i Accords:

I know the A20A3 has 120 HP @ 5500 RPM, but how much torque does it have?

How much control does the ECU have over the transmission?

Thanks,
Ted

The A20A3 has somewhere around 110-120 ft-lbs@3500 rpm

The computer control over the tranny depends on whether it's an auto or stick. If it's a stick, there's none, if it's an auto I believe it's controlled by a seperate computer, not the ECU

I just came across this:
http://www.pauldesign.ru/honda/about.html

I don't think it's right, how could the A20A3 have 169 ft lbs torque @ 4000?
If that were true wouldn't the Accord be faster than the Legend (C27A, 162 ft lbs torque @ 4500)?

ecu or not the tranny isnt controlled by anything other than the engine wether it be auto or manual. The tq I want to say is 98 or so. I know hondas have less tq that HP generally speaking. If you go to the FAQ sections or something maybe. I know mine after 200k dont have no 168ft lbs tq but thats mine

Hahahaha no, it's not right. You're reading it in newton meters, rather than ft/lb. In terms of ft/lb it's 124 or 125 (divide 169 b 1.35491).

"The tq I want to say is 98 or so."

Nope, that's the horsepower of the A20A1 carbed model.

That dyno sheeht isn't even for an a- series motor, it says B20A on the top.
