Vehicle -> 1987 Accord - carb - automatic.

I've been dealing with erratic idling for quite sometime. The rpms were never consistent at idle. This situation was so-so on some days and worse on others.

I had to replace a bypass inlet hose(coolant) on the back side of the motor over the weekend and removed the entire air cleaner assembly to allow a little extra room near the firewall. With the air cleaner assy. off, I had a better view of vacuum hoses buried underneath it.

Hose #14, seen from the top of carb , backside; about 5 in. long had a large gash in it. I replaced it and the idle is now 99% as good as it was when I bought the car new 19 yrs. ago.
