WARNING LONG READ: first off i already know there is a thread on doing this mod but as i was going through the modifications myself for my own car i ran into some problems that were not explained in the previos thread, so il try my best to sum up what L3G1ON had previous posted in his own thread link here: http://www.3geez.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35838
The Problem: now i followed L3G1ON's pictures and everything worked out well except when it came to the front upper strut bar, as far as the brackets go my brackets look identical to his but when i went to put the vertical brackets onto the plate that sits ontop of the tower i ran into a problem, the bar was to short to reach across to the other tower aswell as the vertical brackets were to short and the bar was resting onto of the intake manifold, oviously a problem.
The solution: i took the vertical brackets (which you must take off in the early stages) shown here
http://img466.imageshack.us/img466/1507/picture0417ts.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
then find some flat bar that is the same thickness, shown here
http://img462.imageshack.us/img462/469/picture0420md.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
then trace out what will become an extension for the vertical bracket, like this
http://img368.imageshack.us/img368/171/picture0437br.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
then cut it out with a ban saw, hack saw or whatever you got, and clean up the edges like so
http://img397.imageshack.us/img397/9337/picture0443ud.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
once your done you should have 4 extention pieces that match up with the 4 original brackets that came with the bar

after that all thats left is to weld the pieces together put them onto the bar then set the bar across the towers to determin the right angle to weld the vertical pieces onto the plate and thats it, your done. By welding these extentions on you can weld the vertical pieces on more of an angle to the inside of the car which in turn shortens how long the bar must be and will also raise the bar above the intake mani.
yes it is alot of steps but with the DC Sports bar being rediclous priced not to mention hard to find and justin all "back orderd" its a different alternative. and its worked quite well.
