the trim is perfect on my beater accord, but it is all cracked on my fun one :chainsaw: . Cost $60 for just the trim on one side of the door :wtf: .

The car is this wicked blue that looks steely grey when its dark, and almost an off-purplish blue when its light out. I got this car a couple of months back for $800 off ebay, a steal in my opinion.

My plans...well i just got back from visiting wyotech's campus, and they said that in high performance engines and chassis fab, you can bring in your own project(s). I'm thinking that my accord and my cj-7 will be my project cars.

While at school i'll probably be doing a lot of suspension stuff, along with learning to port and polish, i'll upgrade the engine internals, and sometime soon i'll be converting to fuel injection. Eventually, after i'm done with school (or while i'm still at school), i'll be learning about forced induction, so that'll probably be in her future :)

Yeah, the window trim really gives away the car's age too easily. I want to fix that sometime, too.

your car is totaled, they totaled my car for the fender being busted up.

So the insurance company probably won't fix it... just give you a check for how much they think the car is worth..... i only got 900 bucks for when that happened to me.

the lady called me up and was like "hey...do you think we could do this OUTSIDE of insurance?" i dont think she wants to pay higher rates, so she'll be willing to fix it. Either way i will get money, and it will be repaired, relax guys

I thought you were banned?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?

Edit: forgot, Getready, i wouldn't go for that they can rip you easily, "i never came to any agreement" next thing you know you'll be getting a lawyer, small claims court, and never fix the beast!

like, ok, someone break this down for me, then:

Cops arrived at the scene, and ended up ticketing her, and giving me the report. She calls the next day and said she would rather pay for the damages, so i should get it estimated at a few places. If we get the estimate and she writes us a check, where's the harm? I dont really know about these things, would it be better to go through insurance and all that jazz, for probably a)less money or b)so they can say my car is totaled.

Opinions, advice, experiences?

edit:bdlad, do you have the headlight and fender? the bumper should be ok, i think. few scratches..

frankie89
02-19-2006, 03:15 PM
i think you should get an estimate first, and if she aint willing to pay what was estimated, the see how much the insurance pays out.. thats just my opinion.... regardless if she got ticketed then her isurance is still gonna raise her rates... so either way you get a check just find out who will pay more her or her insurance...

HERE'S SOME INFO FROM MY MOM THE EX- INSURANCE AGENT!!!:

Do not under any circumstances do anything under the table, with anyone about an auto accident, get their info, turn it in to your company, and handle it through the court system if they will not pay, be smart about the car, if you want to keep it make it so!

Damn, dude, that suX0rs. I was just thinking about the pimp blue interior, too! You know, if you happen to spot a prelude red flip-up light (same side) while you're looking for one for the accord, let me know ;).

Good luck, dude. Hopefully, when I see her again she'll be back to normal.

By the way, TWHONZA, I'm not one for body kits, in general, but your hatch looks HOT!

damn, thats some bs.... well just drive the black one...

Interesting idea... That's quite a car. I much enjoyed lock-picking the gas cap, that was fun =). However, the lack of power steering and the spanish on the windshield definitely make the car not a daily driver, at least as far as i am concerned.

But, it ain't my car. So, let's ask the man. What are you driving now?

i'm driving my hatch, only during the day, though. I use my girlfriend's focus at night :) I got the estimate, it'll cost 3100 to fix... we'll see what happens, heh.

I think that advice sucks. Getting money through any insurance company= your rates get hiked up. Maybe there's a reason she's an EX insurance person. Do it under the table. You can probably get more cash, and less hassle, and your rates will stay the same.

It's obvious why her mom, the ex-insurance agent, would give that advice. That doesn't make it good advice. In fact, because the interests of the company and their subscribers are so different, I would be wary of EVER taking advice from someone who thinks from the perspective of the company...

You should tell the woman it's totaled, but the car is worth $3,100

Heh. It's fixable. I had a friend who slid the front end of his accord under an SUV... destroyed the hood, both headlights, fenders, radiator, condensor, and radiator support. Looks flawless now. :) I wouldn't worry.
