NO !!! It will work, but to prevent shifting problems/slipping use only
Honda A.T.F Z-1 ! I went through that whole spiel and It slips when using
dexron III, It does not slip with honda atf.

ok, i have some issues with the shift from 3rd to o/d at 55-65mph.
it happens when i try to gas on up a hill, or just try to pass another car.

all the other shifts work gr8, no slippage.

the honda trans oil will fix this problem ??? being as i have over 200k on the trans ??? Maybe ???

thanks for the help-input.

I have the same problem and same car as you do. The hill thing is just the carb not liking hill from what I've found on here. The accelerating thing from 50 to like 60 is well no idea.

good luck and :welcome:

check your TV cable adjustment, and yes honda ATF will fix most auto slippage and shifting problems. many members on this board used it and it worked.

My 19 year old '87 Accord with right at 277,000 miles has done just fine with Castrol Dexron-III and not the high priced dealer fluid.

I've used Dexron-III from day one - no slippage or any of the other sort of issues mentioned prior to this post.

I have used amsoil and later, Mobil 1 ATF. It costs even more money than Z-1. When these cars were new, by the way, Dexron II was the standard and I had even used that a couple of times. No issues at this point with 247,000 miles on the clock.
