They sell a thread chaser at auto part stores. If you messed it up bad, then you need to heli-coil it. Be carefull if you heli-coil it, you don't need the shavings in the cylinder. Either blow it out with an air compressor & extension that will go down in the cylinder, or pull the head off to heli-coil it.

Well, if you vacuum out most of the shavings, it's not that bad. You can put a rag or something in the bottom of the piston through the spark plug hole so the shavings will stick to it.

If it's really stripped, helicoil is your friend.

Don't forget that the spark plugs are installed at an angle in these cars.

That is pretty small hole to be putting a rag in. But yeah, vaccum should get most of it out & what little is left should blow out the exhaust.

if you contact summit racing, they had a special helicoil kit that didn't require redriling the hole,it was in one of their tool catalogs,it was designed to tap new threads into the existing hole, also when you helicoil a sparkplug hole, when you are tapping it,put lots of grease on the tap, then keep backing it out every few turns, and cleaning the grease off, the chips stick to the grease, and don't fall in.
