Map scensor mod

Here is my idea for the map scensor mod. I use the 3rd gen scensor for gas milage and simply switch in the 4th gen one to richen the fuel mixture for a little more power. No messing with the mystery box. I just extended the vaccume line to the outside and made a bracket to screw the scensors to.

Gas milage doesn't get that vastly effected. I get ~29-30mpg with it.
Really?? Man I get like 20-23mpg average. But I drive it like I stole it.:eek5:

Thats a good idea,it would'nt be that hard either.

i'd do it... turn on the 3g sensor for trips or anything like that and then when you want a bit more power, switch on the 4g map.

That'd be kinda cool... but yeah... so much for me doing that :/

I kinda traded the accord for a civic.

Get one from a wrecking yard. It is very easy, all you do is switch the plug, and wala, there you go.
It does help. Worth the time for sure.

Well i already have a 4g map but thank you n-e way.I was talking about making a switch so that you can change between the 3g map and the 4g map on the fly.

If memory serves.....you just match the colors. Make sure you save the old plug though. Just in case.

Hey guys thanks for chacking out my post. I have some answers for your questions. Yes this mod has been done many times before. I found out about it on this forum. what I did diffrently was mount the scensor outside of the black box. the one in the picture is the 3gee one. I have the 4gee one in my trunk. If I get the itch to do some real driving I simply unscrew one scew, unplug the scensor from the vaccume hose and wiring harness, and simply swap in the other scensor. The 4gee scensor makes the computer give the engine a little richer fuel mixture. If you have I,H,E or more you will feel a performance increase. When I drove to Cali a few months ago I used the 3gee scensor and got 35 mpg on the highway going 90 the whole way! I guess you could use a splitter for the vaccume line and hook up both scensors. For the wiring it is a different story though. If you have both scensors wired up at the same time the computer will get two signals. You would have to install a switch on the ground wire. Which wire I do not know. To do this mod just get a 4gee map scensor, and a 3gee map scensor. cut off both the plugs and solder the 3gee plug onto the 4gee scensor. The wires are close enough in color that you can tell what goes where. before you cut the wires look at the positioning of the wiring and write it down if it helps. If you have trouble finding the scensor in the box here are some clues. #13 vaccume line goes to it on both cars. It says MAP scensor on the label. This mod is explained somewhere in this forum.

richer mixture higher voltage the ecu wont see it comming.

I basicly gave up on that damn sensor it uses to much gas and my car accelerates way better under 4000 rpms and now that i got the header I dont need that pos.
