Well I bought an 89 Accord front bumper and decided to get a lip for it. Here's what you do. I didnt want the lip to cover up the bottom part of the bumper, so I used rubber grommets to set the lip a little lower. You can decide what size grommets you need (also figure out how long of a bolt you need), depending on how low you want the lip to sit.

Stuff needed

88-89 Front Accord Bumper (coupe or hatch)
88-89 Integra front lip
6 Bolts(you decided the size
6 Washers(you decide the size
6 Six Nuts (you decide the size
6 rubber bushing (you decide the size
2 Screws
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v667/Legend_Master/b55ed47b.jpg

Tools
Socket set
Drill (drill bit needs to match the bolt size)
Phillips head screwdriver

First mount the driver and passenger side exactly how you want it. Then drill the whole for the bolt to go through. Use the washer to hold the bolt to the lip and the rubber grommet to set the lip a little lower. Put the nut on the bottom of the bolt.

Now Mount the middle point of the lip I used a dowel to set the lip just a little lower, because the middle set to high . Mount exactly the same way as the driver and passenger side.

Now choose other points to mount the rest of the bolts and make sure the lip is even.

Set the lip exactly how you want and make sure everything is tight.

Tricky tricky... you made your lights look like they were on... off the car. :)

Nice work. BTW does the legend lip fit our car? I was looking at it a while back, not sure what year.

The 89-90 legend bumper looks identical to the 88-89 accord bumpers. I am thinking the lip on the 86-88 legend would fit the 86-87 Accords and the 89-90 legend lip would fit the 88-89 accord. Fyredaug here you go Bumper installed (http://www.3geez.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50184)

i'm gonna have to look around for a bumper lip. i thought about ordering one though from honda if they still make them. fat chance on that. but maybe so?

ok, they do still make the integra lip brand new. $76.39 with out shipping costs from acuraautomotiveparts.org, same people as hondaautomotiveparts.com, (aka. Majestic Honda)

$68.60 for the legend bumper lip from them also with out shipping

They don't make the accord lip anymore. I checked, they have it in there catalog, but it is no longer stocked or available.

ok you dont want to spend that much for just a freaking lip from another car. i would understand if it was new aftermarket or even carbon fiber but from another stock car? i only spent 7 bucks for mine (that includes the jy entrance fee) and about 9 bucks for all the bolts and fittings (hehe most of it was a steal...wink wink hehehe). i know its kinda hard for find one if a mint condition from the jy but as long as you find one thats in pretty good shape youre ok. i mean all you have to do is buy it, sand it for two hours like i did (to get all of the inperfections out of it and all the surface scratches out) prime it, and paint it flat black. i used the Truck, Van & SUV flat black paint from Duplicolor (T95 Universal Flat <actual name off the barcode). its for the trim and accessories...just like it says on the can. once you paint the first even coat, wet sand it and paint it again. After youre done, you'll have a just like new lip customized by you. then all you have to do is get a 3 inch 3GEEZ sticker to put it on the pass side of the lip to let people know where you got the DIY from! :D:D:D

Great how-to. I used this thread to install my new (old) 1st-gen (86-87) Integra lip. (Thanks, Brent. But I did have to paint it, lol.) I used nylon spacers totalling 3/4" in length to get the lip drop I thought looked good. The contour of the Integra lip is not an exact match w/ the Accord; it bows slightly where it meets w/ the foglight holes, but nothing major. That's a new basecoat w/ 5 coats of clear on the bumper, BTW, w/ a respray of bumper coating paint on the top and bottom lip.

Good job dude, that looks clean. I am thinking use using some kind of two sided tape to keep it from bowing out that little bit.

i'm pretty sure that's an 88-89 integra lip. anyways gj on the diy. it looks great paso.

when i did it, i noticed that the lip bowed in as well. so the way i took care of it, and when we did cory's lip, was to drill a hole closer to the edge of the end of the bumper, forced it against the bumper and screwed it on. the lip just molded right onto the bumper. i noticed that when i took the lip off the bumper to get the car painted, it was fairly easy to put it back on afterwards. i think the reason was because of the period of time it was on there forced onto the bumper. i guess what im trying to say is it permanetly stayed in that position.

ook, i'll head over to some hardware store and see what i find. what thickness are they? i really like how yours sits on your bumper. i might actually be serious about this, i went and sprayed it some flat black like monkey did. unfortunately, mine has apparently met several curbs, but it still looks MUCH better with the sand and paint. :)

Question: These lips come with seals. Is the seal necessary or helpful or useful or anything?

When I pulled this lip from an '88 Integra hatch, it had a seal attached to it. Like...a window seal, or any seal from the little parts of cars that butt up to larger sheet metal (i.e. tail lights).

Shall I post a picture?

Mine is on there, but its so old it doesnt serve any real purpose.
I suppose when it was new that it kept the lip from vibrating.

I was wondering because I took mine off to clean the lip and my mom set her 500lb purse on the seal when it was on the chair (where she has NEVER set her purse) and destroyed the seal. It's in two pieces and mauled to hell.

Isn't the second-generation Integra lip too short on the sides?

Actually it is to long all the way around. I had to cut it, and move it together on the side. The only way to do this properly, is if you have some kind of way to connect the plastic back together(without a seem).

Actually I need to correct what I said. The one time I installed a second gen Integra lip I was using my original 86 hatch bumper. Charlie you may be right about it being to short.

that's exactly what i will have to do with the one lip i have, it came off an early integra, it fits fine. the ends are too long on the sides of the bumper. A plastic welder would fix it right in no time.

Thanks for the feedback guys but the guy i was supposed to pick the lip off isnt replying to my calls or texts so i guess he doesnt want to go through the hassle to make quick 10 bucks or i dont know whats up with him, But i will keep looking around.

But again all i can find around here are 2nd gen integras. I will make it fit somehow though lol
