I have been leaking oil bad and the other day My ride just started to really start making pinging and clanking noises that seem to be from the cam area i thought maybe cam bearing but no cam bearing + low oil pressure. any suggestions.

Well I dont think cam bearings have as much to do with oil pressure on our motors as a domestic V-8 would. I would pop the valve cover and look I think you may have broken a rocker. Might be able to take off the oil cap a look that way as well.

check the rocker, and you may want start thinking about rebuilding the motor.

I took the valve cover off and I didn't see anything out of the ordinary. maybe I need to take the rocker assembly off then??

Low oil pressure is generally rod or main bearings worn out.
<thought I'd throw that in>

Yeah but i thought he was refering to cam bearings like in a chevy 350 they too can make your oil pressure low if there bad.

You can run it a few seconds with the valve cover off too. Your looking for a rocker not on the valve or the tips galled really bad.

Alotta other things could be making noise like a bad bearings in the altenator ,distributor.

I did refill the oil.
I did run it without the cover on and it was deffinately lounder the noise. checked the alternator that was fine.
It was also starting hard almost like it was not timed righ,t would always have to geive it a couple of trys then would fire.

First thing first, adjust your valve lash & go from there. Excessive valve lash clatters.

While you have the top cover off, verify that your valve timing is correct. The procedure for this can be found in the electronic shop manual from http://www.pauldesign.ru/ Hope this helps.
