1987 Accord LXI 5spd 277,000 miles

1st the vibration

The vibration occurs above 60mile an hour, it comes and goes sometimes coatsting, someimtes under power..it's pretty much random.

(on a side note as I think this might be motor mount related the engine does vibrate a bit at idle)

This is what I have replaced

Front spindles (different bearings)
both drive axles
rims and tires are brand new
Newer transmission (last one chit 5th gear)
rotors (upgraded to 88-89 lxi brakes)
brake pads
new calipers

Now here's the kicker

I put in the used tranny yesterday and another new passenger drive axle as the new one chit it's boot. The driver's side drive axle has less than 50 miles on it. Now when I accelerate I get a horriable vibration at ANY speed. I have read on the board that the front and rear motor mounts might be gone? Ideas?

Besides what you posted try and see if its the tires at all. Switch them front to back if you can or just have them rebalanced. Also when you redid the tranny did the vibration start. The clutch maybe a little outta wack if you did'nt use the alignment tool.

The tires are fine, they have been double checked, besides the vibration under acceleration can occur off the line, most tires won't start vibrating until 20mph has been reached.

the over 50 vibration i would have the wheel balance checked,,,,

vibration on accell sounds like an inner cv joint worn,,,

that's the 2nd bad drive axle I have purchased from Autozone that has been bad out of the box. Repalced it and the vibration on acell is gone. Vibration above 50mph still unknown since new clutch/tranny has been installed. Tires and wheels have been checked and are fine. Motor mounts have been checked and are fine.

check ball joints and tie rods.
if they are worn out they will move at high speeds

check ball joints and tie rods.

New Tie-rods and rack and pinion, new spindles which include lower ball joints... and the upper a-arm ball joints are very tight... but good try.

I have literally replace just about every rotating or moving part on the front suspension of this car. The high speed vibration might be gone, haven't driven on the highway since I installed the new tranny and new non-vibrating cv shaft.

It would be best if you started your own post about your specific problem. WHat you have done is referred to as 'post jacking' and it is similar to yelling out your question in a group of people while one person is asking their question. :) Not to mention a quick search would provide you with the answer you are looking for.
