Hey, its been a little while so i thought I would update a bit on the status of my 3g. I spent the weekend cleaning up the engine bay, painting the valve cover and adding adding a nice little touch. I also managed to paint the front bumber trim and the front grill. It had started fading, so i lightly sanded it, and shot 3 coats of black on it, then put some tire shine and got it shinin.

Also, I plain this summer on painting the old 3g. Everyone keeps telling me to leave it because there is nothing wrong with the paint, I work at a detail shop so the car gets waxed and cleaned every month and a half. I thought about an orange color or jaguar gray.

get a white 88-89 sedan/coupe bumper and drop it 2.5. if you paint just redo it white

Looks great! You have an 86 and its EFI? I have an 88 LXI and its carb?

CKE..you removed all your vac lines? Im thinking of doing it but nervous about doing it, How does your car preform minus the vaccume?

the different trim levels came with different engines.

86-89 LX-i, EX-i and SE-i came with a20a3 (fuel injected, here in the states, a20a4 elsewhere)
86-89 DX, LX, EX came with a20a1 (carbed, here in the states, a20a2 elsewhere)

if its an LX-i it should be fuel injected....unless someone did the most pointless engine swap ever. most likely youve got an LX and they swapped badges

I havent really decided what to do, I plain on redoing the front lip this weekend do to the fact that it is peeling. I am going to lightly sand where its peeling and shoot it black im thinking. The wire running with the fuse is going back to my stereo system I installed awhile back. I have thought about lowering it because with the rims and the lo-pro tires, it sits very. I will take more photos this weekend in the daylight and post up pictures when i finish painting all the trim and the back bumper trim.

As for how I cleaned the engine bay, you can use any cleaner, but be advised, if you polish the lines with a grinder on the valve cover like i did, then watch out, because some cleaners will discolor it. I cleaned it when it was hot, personally I think it cleans better, but everyone has there opinion. When your finished, rinse well, then if you have access to an compressor, use an air chisel to blow off all the water. When you are done, the top secret is WD-40. It sounds stupid but im telling it will make your engine shine like no tomorrow.

i don't know about shooting wd-40 around an engine bay. i hear it eats up belts.

It looks absolutely fantastic!

Probably as nice an engine bay as I have ever seen on 3g, next to Military Mase's (which was freshly repainted). Very nice work.

I'm looking forward to seeing the daylight pics you promised.

Peace.
