I tried looking for this problem, but i didnt find anything that helped.

When I shift into 5th gear, and continue to drive it will pop out of 5th gear, if you try to hold it in there, it bucks the whole car like it would feel if you lost fuel all of a sudden and then just as quick got it back.

I have heard that this is a syncro problem, and i have also heard that its the whole 5th gear assembly that is bad.

So, my questions are...

Anyone had this before?
is it sycnros or the whole thing?
Should I rebuild or swap the tranny?

it is very common if your tranny is low on oil.
don't try to hold the shifter in gear, this will burn up the sycro.
check oil level and add more oil as needed.

if your 5th gear is popping out i think that the ring on the syncro is busted i believe that it is what holds it in place if you can still drive it . i would change 5th and syncro not hard to do and about 180. from honda or you will seize up and reaally screw up bearings and other stuff.

I am gonna check the oil in the tranny as soon as i feel better, hopefully that is all thats wrong with it.

what about the slight grinding going into 3rd? thats a syncro issue right?

i plan on keeping this car for a while, but dont cant dump a load of money into right now, (my jeep takes a lot too) what sort of options do i have besides the obvious... drive it in 4th allthe time.
