So I got the air cleaner, from Carb Unlimited... but it seems I'm missing like a 1 3/4" spacer for it?

I noticed on some pics of the Holley 5200, there is some kind of rubber spacer? How do I go about getting that?

Or, if that fails, any ideas on what material I can use, to build an air cleaner spacer?

no you can install it like that. You should actually, that way it doesn't hit the hood. The spacer may be an adapter or a spacer to allow the base of the filter to be flush with the top of the carb.

Yeah, but there's a part of the carb in the way... lol, and I don't even know what the hell it is... lemme see if I have a pic of it :D

You talking about the gasket between the bottom of the carb and the intake? If so thats called the plenum gasket if i remember correctly...

What pics are you looking at with the spacer?

Nah I think his carb is installed so he's not worried about the gasket... he's trying to mount an air filter base to the top hat of the carb.

Oh, now I know what you're talking about.
Yeah you need a spacer.
Just double checking, but did you seal the small hole in the intake manifold?

and take some pics of your throttle linkage. :)

That large tube might be a float bowl vent pipe... that would explain the diaphragm it connects to. You might want to locate a rebuild diagram with all the parts labled/numberd.
Those ports at the back of the carb are probably ways to sense vacuum from the carb, one is throttle port vacuum, the other at the base of the carb, is manifold vacuum. You also have another manifold vacuum tap in the side of the adapter plates.

32/36 DFEV/AV Series

EDIT: never mind the diagram doesn't include the holley changes.

That explains the lack of a spacer perhaps... the other 32/36 DFEV looks like that holley but it doesn't have the extra bits sticking out.

I sealed that hole, yes :)

So if that's a float bowl vent pipe, what would it run to? the air cleaner?

I'm still trying to figure out what I can build a spacer out of... a 2x4" wood spacer sounds nice, but I'm worried about it rotting :p I really need some thick plastic to build it from!

Further investigation shows my carb is a Holley 5210 - the 5200 DOES NOT have that bump!

Thats so odd, the gasket is right but the spacer looks like a regular one for the dfv weber.

Do you really think the 56-1020 would fit? Looks like the 56-1010 is the thin one... Summit has them for about $70/ea :( Dammit!

maybe cut the base to make the diamond shape. Use the gasket as the template... yeah the filter is kinda high... maybe something between the tall and short one.

where were the ones you saw on carbs unlimited
