Anyone ever do this yet? I would like to get a weber carb, and well rebuild the engine. Anyone try this? I have shops that offered to do it but for like a grand for two.. so If i can do it myself, I would.

yes, you can rebuild any engine. I personally am swapping for a BT1 (early FI A-series). There are several special tools required, as well as machine/honing work and much mechanical knowledge.

http://www.hi-performance.com/ImportRebuildKits.htm

the above link will show you a variety of rebuild kits availiable for "reasonable" prices.

I never rebuilt a EK1 but I did swap a webber carb onto one. It makes a noticable imporovement. The rebuild should be pretty strait forward except for the prechambers and the little valves that go with them. A haynes manual should be enough to get you through it.

It depends on what you need to rebuild it. You can piece it out alot cheaper through ebay and other places other than getting a kit. You never know. The best place I found for getting a kit or Piece by piece is:
importperformanceparts.net

If you type www it will not be the right place. They have the biggest variety of parts at the lowest prices. A re-ring kit for an ek1 there is like $169 it just all depends on what YOU NEED

I feel it is dead thread already but I couldn't stop responding to lyricsdad's initial enquiery - my friend in Japan asked a garage to do full retoration and they did EK O/H. Below is the link to his hp about the EK and M/T O/H. The text is in Japanese but not much writing there so you will be ok. I dont mean to give you any technical input but more like giving you positive imagination - it is possible. If you need to know anything specific, let me know then I will either translate or ask my friend.

(1) 13 March 2005 - Engine Removal and dismantle (http://dorakumasami.hp.infoseek.co.jp/Accord/Res/Res_1st/AcRes_01.htm)
(2) 27 March 2005 - M/T inspection and reassembly (http://dorakumasami.hp.infoseek.co.jp/Accord/Res/Res_1st/AcRes_02.htm)
(3) 9 April 2005 - new block sleeve and head assembly (http://dorakumasami.hp.infoseek.co.jp/Accord/Res/Res_1st/AcRes_03.htm)
(4) Mid April 2005 - Engine assembly (http://dorakumasami.hp.infoseek.co.jp/Accord/Res/Res_1st/AcRes_04.htm)
(5) 23 April 2005 - Carburettor and completion (http://dorakumasami.hp.infoseek.co.jp/Accord/Res/Res_1st/AcRes_05.htm)

Good luck.

Would you or your friend know where to aquire (preferably anywhere online so I can order the parts myself) the JDM side mirrors for a first gen Accord?
I guess that's one of the many things I want to do to mine. I just can't seem to find anywhere that has them.

Hi, welcome to 3geez.com. I like your blue 1st gen.
Obviously, the fender mirror is only for japanese market so it is near impossible to buy them outside japan.
As far as I know, there is no site where you can buy Honda parts online - unlike US, sorry. It is really inconvenient indeed.
There is yahoo.co.jp auction and occasionally you see 1st gen parts but you cant pay online with credit card - see below.
Good luck with your VTEC swap.

About JDM parts, technically yes. In reality it is complex and expensive. Asking my friends in Japan to buy and send the parts is possible but the postage and sending money to Japan is great pain - no paypal, creditcard is not accepted without signature and using cheque is uncommon over there.
