View Full Version : 4G Conversion? Ever actually done?

I was just wondering, because one day when I was searching for something I had found a couple of posts about someone wanting to swap to a 4G frontend on their 3G. I was just wondering if it has ever actually been completed on any known 3Gs and if so how hard it is. I'm considering something like this because my front end if messed up and around here there are many more 4Gs than 3Gs to get parts off of.

well, one person got into the conversion, but i didn't keep up with it.

in order to do it properly, you have to change out the header panel (rad support), graft the fenders, and graft the hood.

doing something like this because it's easier to get parts for a 4 gee is like chopping your dick off and having a vagina welded in place because 51% of the population is female. this is something you do to be different, not because you can get parts more readily.

:bowrofl:^^^ funny. i really dont see why anyone would want to put a 4th gen front on a 3gee. that'd be retarded, imo. but nah, nobody has actually followed through on a conversion. probably because its more trouble than its worth and a waste of money in itself. i'd go for doing a rear and front 3rd gen prelude on my 3gee though. that would actually flow with the car since the design is very much alike, not as rounded as the 4th gen.

why do you say that man some ppl may think that the 4g lights look better...i do beacuse it looks more aerodynamic...thus saving you on gas and you would not have to adjust the lamp...on my car its hella ghetto one light goes all the way down and the other side i have like a 1/4inch gap and i have to push it down to make it look right...one of these days i might take it apart and see if i can adjust it but still 4g lights would look cool

no, i said doing it for parts availability was asinine, not doing it for pure looks. since it's custom, about all you're going to be able to readily replace are the headlights, grille, bumper cover, and the corner lights. any parts that are worth doing this conversion for are going to be custom (fenders, hood). like i said, it's like having a sex change because females are more common.

let me clarify, I wasn't asking simply because the parts were easier to find, that was just a bonus. I really think the 4G frontend would look awesome on a 3G, but since they are easy to find around here I was thinking that if it was possible I could find the parts easily.

the parts to do the swap, yeah, those are easy to come by, but i thought you meant you wanted to do the swap so that you could easily replace the parts in the future. sorry for the misunderstanding.

nope, I wanted to know if it had been done. Because I like the way it would look, and because I know the parts would be easy to find ;)

Personally I think if you want a 4g front end you should just buy a 4g, the body's are so similar I don't see any real point. Unless your doing it to a hatch since 4g's didn't come in the hatch bodystyle.

yeah, I would love to see a hatch with a 4G front end and some custom taillights, that would be so sweet.

The AOM pics have his car with the 3rd gen lights.

Instead of trying to graft a 4g front end to a 3g, and mess with all the custom sheetmetal work, why not just order the front clip for a JDM spec 3g?

It'll be sweeter because it's JDM, pretty much bolt on swap, and it'll still have the fixed headlights ya want.

Here's a link to the Erebuni kit if ya wanna see a JDM 3g front end.
