Okay... so my daily 89 accord is starting to do some funky stuff at 232,000 miles. I think it might need a new waterpump, timing belt, and one of the bearings I think is starting to make a little noise. I'm not worried...but ..thing is. If something fails on my cars, I usually replace it with something a bit more exciting. :) Right now, it's the 98hp carb'd 2.0 liter.... so I'm sure something can be done that's a bit more exciting. That said, H22 project would be fun but this is my daily, so I can't keep it off the road that long. What engine fits pretty well? I'm not afraid of wiring. :) I know hte EFI A20 fits...but... how much HP is that? And there've been a few B series swaps. That sounds kinda cool. I have friends that weld, and I have access to a shop, cherry picker, all sorts of stuff. What's hte best engine to swap into these things that is easy to find?

I suggest before you attempt anything other then an a20a3 swap that you buy a beater car, you can plan for everything and things still will go wrong. You don't want to find yourself without any transportation. As far as engine swaps go you should really read the sticky at the top of this section marked important in bright red about engine swaps.

I read the sticky, but unfortunatly the sticky is just a bunch of part number and what cars what engines were in. They don't give specs, like power, torque, engine characteristics (peaky, broad powerband, whatever) reliable, unreliable, rare, easy to find, good mpg, bad mpg, or expensive. There's none of that information in the faq. :(

Well, you can't swap anything in that car without custom mounts except the B20A.

If you're willing to do custom mounts, get a newer B series, Any of those will be OK.

Reliablilty... it's a honda motor.

The B series has the most support.

So the B20 bolts right in? I assume I'll have to do a lot of other things...but that's cool. Bseries= more efficient also, right?

The B20A sure bolts right in... it's just harder to find since it's a JDM only engine :(

Newer B series are just as reliable as any other engine but they make more power than the A series.

Hrm. JDM= expensive to ship. What are my options for local stuff? Just the a20? I guess I could convert to EFI and maybe do a little headwork and intake/exhaust manifold portmatching or something. Where the EFI A20s only in accords?

Thats what the thread is there for and If you can't find specs for a b-series or an h22 then you are not searching very hard. http://www.integra.orcon.net.nz/engines was something I found with about 2 minutes of seaching. You might be able to find a b20 for and accord in canada, but you would be better off buying an EFI a20 and turboing it. Have you seen this thread yet Best a20 ever (http://www.3geez.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50880&page=2).

P.S. I was contiplated flaming you, but I decided to help you.

Very noble of you. But considering half the links in the 'engine swap faq' don't work and they don't provide any specifics, it's honestly kinda a shitty faq. I searched. But I can't find an easy answer. Thanks for your help though. :)

also check out this thread by accordtheory, he is very knowledgeable and I think he has the only thread about swapping a b-series without PRI mounts.
