Let me run this by you and tell me whatcha think:

I gotta '92 civic intake, aluminum. Im going to cut it so itll fit behind the battery. Then, im going to paint it inside and out with several coats of heat resistant ceramic paint.

Any suggestions?

Well it will resist heat. However, your going to be sucking in hot air from under the hood so kinda pointless. If you do a cold air you may see a small benefit from the ceramic paint. I've seen mags do comparison between insulated and non-insulated intakes there was a temp difference but not much and the dyno only showed like 1hp at the very top end.

So, should i make an extension coming off the filter, down into the bumper (kinda like a cold air thing, with the filter in the engine)? and paint that with the ceramic paint also?

Which would be best, behind the battery, or against the firewall? is there any other place you have seen that may be as good or better than these?

thanx

When I had my intake (It was a modified 90 Prelude pipe) it ended up locating the filter between the engine and firewall. Pulled a decent amount of air from under the car with low risk of getting wet, but it was way too noisy inside the car mounted in this location. I finally got sick of the noise and put back the factory intake assembly.

is it the cool kinda noise, or the not so cool-gives you a headache kinda noise?

Can you hear all this noise from outside the car
