Hi, How do you determine the proper offset for plus sizing. Does it depend on the type of rim or should the offset be the same regardless of the type of rim. I am looking to put 15" rims on my 89 LX-i. I want it to run and handle better than it currently does.

Thanks

The offset you want does not depend on the rim size, it depends on the suspension design of the car and how much space is in the wheelwell if you intend to run larger tires. The stock offset is 45 mm. Anything between 40-45 mm should work fine for a 15" wheel with a reasonably wide tire.

Thanks - I was planning on running 205-50R15. Does it matter whether the rims are 6", 6.5" or 7"'s. Also, in your opinion are 16" rims a better choice. I won't consider anything larger.

15" and 16" are both good choices. 16" will give you quicker steering response with slightly higher unsprung weight and higher tire costs. 16" wheels will also be a little easier to damage with the reduced sidewall. Personally I would go with a light 15x7.

im going to go with 15x7 +40 with 215/50/15 tires (a little higher than stock, but not bad) i think there will definetly be rubbing issues with rubbing until i roll fenders etc. :)
