Just a few thoughts
I bought in November of 89. They were clearing out the G3's since the G4's were on the way. Boy am I glad I didn't wait for the G4's they were really bad for reliability the first few years. Besides they were nowhere near as sporty looking.
I paid 13k for it. 2k under sticker wasn't bad back then.
Initally I thought there was a problem with the engine. It ran very rough for a Honda. After about 800 miles it calmed down with break in. The only thing this car ever went back to the dealer for under warranty was the Power antenna. After warranty I gave up on it and ran it manually.
The only accesorization I did was installing the OEM Armrest, still love it to this day. Don't know why it wasn't standard.
All my friend loved how quiet it was, usually they fell asleep on long trips.
If you note it came from the factory with a Delco battery. That POS died within a year. Of course that is warranted by the manufacturer, not Honda. Same thing with the Michelins, one developed a bulge when it was about 1.5 years old.
Interesting thing about the Tranny, when it was new it had a tendancy to whine a little while cruising at lower speeds in 5th gear. That worked its self out on its own.
Over the years it has required its share of reqired maintaince. I'm still on the 2nd clutch and set of shocks. I got OEMs to replace the worn originals. So when they crap out I can beat up Honda for another set since they have the lifetime warranty like the other makers:-)

More to come..

Awesome... are you passing the car on to your son?... I think thats so cool to have owned a car for that long and be the original owner. The car looks good.

Thanks,
I'm not so sure on totally passing it on to my son. This car has alot of memories for me and my wife. I'm a little worried about it getting destroyed. I never has anything this nice when I was a kid. I drove a 78 chevette and 82 Ranger. Super dogs with no sway bars.
I will post some current picts of it, that will be painful after seeing how good it looked when it was new.

Hopefully your son will charish it and respect it!

My parents bought my 88lxi brand new in December of 87, custom ordered with a flip up sunroof, and 5spd. Maroon on Maroon.

It sat in our driveway for 4 years after we moved from souther co, to northern co, and during that time got ALOT of oxidization...

When i finally turned 16, my parents gave it to me as my first car, had 232k on it at the time... still on the OE clutch, and the water pump had just gone out and been replaced.

I drove it for about 6 months before i blew the tranny up, got a new trans, new clutch, new axles, did all the work myself, and once that happend i couldnt stop! Really took care of the car, cleaned inside and out on a regular basis (once a week), and it looked really really good while i owned it.

Now 2 years later its back in my driveway, sitting... with 275k and broken timing belt. If you havent done a timing belt yet DO SO NOW NOW NOW! Like, TOMORROW, kind of NOW! Id still be driving that car on a semi regular basis if the timing belt didnt break.

All off-topicness aside, i can understand why you'd be skeptical to give it to your son, but hopefully hes understanding of its value, and has respect for a vehicle... no matter if its a new ferrari, or an 89 honda accord. They should both be maintained, and taken care of in the same manner :)
