From what I hear it will but, to gain more hp you should just remove the unit to drop some weight. Might notice more of a difference.

With the A/C turned off, that pulley is really taking almost no power from your engine. Pulling the entire system would save you a lot of weight and you may notice that. I'd pull mine, but it still works and I live in southern Arizona.

when off your engine is just turnning a pully ! approx no load ! :)

if ur ac works, dont mess with it, if ur freeon is gone, then just take the belt off, dont dismantle ur system. unless u live in like canada or something. u might need it and pulling out the compressor might get it locked up. like mine did.

my ac has a leak and i never use it, i go fast enough so the air cummin through my windows is sufficiently cold.

Apprx how much weight would i lose? And i will only gain a fraction of a pony by removin belt?

Thnx homes(s)

There is no extra power, but you would save 50-75 lbs by removing the entire system (compressor, lines, and both heat exchangers).

Your crankshaft pulley is turning 3 belts -Including the AC belt even if it is not being used -So removing it gives less resistance and your engine will not work as hard turning 2 belts instead of 3-
But just to be on the safe side during off season you want to keep your seals lubed and inside of the compressor-So I would keep it on so you can run it every so often.
But then again its worth a try since its not too hard to remove.
