View Full Version : 3G is gone, got a 5G

As I mentioned earlier, my old girl took one for the team because some CT female driver forgot that people yeild to rotary traffic here in Mass. This happened about 5 weeks ago:

So they totaled her and gave us the money. Yesterday I got a 5g accord, drove up 2 hours to Freeport ME for it:

Here's more info on it:

Got it for 2k. Will be picking it up this Friday after I register it and get the plates. All around a good deal. Will have to get all 4 new tires and a spare though. Might also need a camber kit with its 2.1"F/1.7"R drop. Good thing the struts are firm enough to handle the springs. I wonder if I can run a wider tire - 205/60R15 or 205/55R15 instead of stock 195/60R15 on the stock rim?

Yeah, all in all I'm excited to have a ride again and can't wait to drive the 5G. But I'm still a 3gee'er at heart -- not after hundreds of hours of blood sweat and tears spent on my old girl. It may have been an abusive relationship, but there sure is no replacing how much I learned about working on cars and the appreciation I gained for the 3rd generation accord. So I'm still going to hang around the community because this is a great group of members, and 3geez partly became a home for me. I'll try to make it to the meets if I can, as well.

Here's the for sale thread for a few things I have left over: http://www.3geez.com/forum/showthread.php?t=51859

Dang! I'm sorry about your car. What speed was the lady traveling at when she hit you? The reason why I ask is because the quarter panel is all crunched to shit, but the tail light isnt even cracked(from what i see). Anyways, nice 5g. Have fun with it.

Your coming to the meet at the end of the month though, right? I'd run 215/55/15, you're usually fine to go up to 20mm bigger on the same size rim. Wider tires look great and protect the wheels alot better, the only thing is the tire wall will probably lean more in the turns. Using 215/55/15's your only .4% bigger then stock. So when you are going 70mph you'll see 70.3 on the speedo. Not a noticeable difference.

Nice car, take care of it, and sorry about your old one.

If the schoolwork is not up to my ears, I will try to make the meet, Jim. Thanks for the info.

*chuckles* That's nicer than what NH residents call Mass drivers ;-)

However, it's pretty common knowledge that you're supposed to yield to cars that are already in a traffic circle, so if the woman pulled out into him, I would say that pretty firmly puts her into the moron category. Hey man, was she talking on her cell phone when she hit you? That shit drives me crazy! I don't know why people do it....all you have to do is watch someone drive while they talk on the damned things to see that it lowers your driving IQ into single digits.....

that cuz NH drivers are hicks and they drive in the sticks.
plus none of them have insurance so they try not to hit anything

lol.....you're right about that SQ....I moved up here from NC last year. Tell you one thing that trips me out about the way folks drive around here....everyone seems to be in such a damned hurry! People go 30mph over the limit, and then wonder why the fuzz pulls them over....

One thing though....NH is like any other state...there are responsible people here who carry insurance....and we have to deal with non-insured drivers the same as you folks in Mass do....

I live in Concord. Luckily the "Hick" population seems to be a little less prevalent here. ;-) I certainly hope you weren't trying to call ME a hick.....I'm a redneck lol.....

Hey good luck with the 5G

If you're looking for parts
On E-bay there is a used F23 2.3 liter accord header, it's said to fit the F22 with modification to the secondary pipe... the flange to the head is the same.

Yeah. We have a rotary right after a long offramp. I stopped and yeilded to a car on the rotary, I just started to merge and then she hit me. She must have been flying down the offramp, was probably doing 10-20mph when she hit me. She swerved to the left at the last moment, that's why its a left side impact. As you can see, a lowered car (only 1.5") takes the impact into the tail light instead of the bumper. This was only from 98 maxima. Imagine being hit by an SUV or a truck...

I don't think she was talking on the cell. She said she looked at the rotary, saw no traffic and that's why she thought I would be moving already. Or maybe she saw me at the very last moment. I was stopped, the car that I yeilded to just passed to my right (out of her view) and I was just starting to punch it. From me stopping to yeild to being rear-ended all taking 2-3 seconds. So yeah, shit like this happens pretty often and it sure wasn't fun being on the receiving end. So dive carefully guys, and brake just a bit sooner than you have to, to make it safe for everybody.

SQ is the SQUAD: The car is probably at our local j/y in Methuen, MA. But my car had 251k on it, so you probably don't want that tranny. Although I'll have to check out that j/y to see if my car indeed is there. It still had the catback on when they took her away. Very good condition exhaust someone might want.

A20A1: Thanks for the link Mike, I might get it. But what do you actually have to modify on the secodary pipe to make it fit? You have a link with the info?

3G Jester: Thanks. Looks like a good forum, I'll probably join.

It was on honda-tech I beleive. Someone wanted an f23 Mugen header for the F22. I'll try and find it again... If you're going to get it do so quickly.

Hmm, thanks for the info on the header Mike, but I think Ill stick with the stock exhaust manifold. From what it looks like, unless I invest in a custom made tuned header, I won't get much gains over stock. Maybe later down the road, we'll see.
