i have a 1987 honda accord dx, as i was slowing down to get off the freeway the car died. when i try to turn it back on it makes a high pitched grinding noise and wont start. all the belts are turning. its getting gas. any idea what else it could be?

yep engine turns it just doesnt catch and start all the way

check if ur getting sparks. if ur car just dies on the freeway, its either ur ignition coil. also check ur radio condensor. see if the capacitence of it is within tolerable farads.

last step. still it wont start? slightly tighten you throttle cable, just a lil bit, free up your AJC a tad and tighten ur idle screw a notch. see if the car starts right away.

i have a 5spd and it will start in any gear as long as the clutch is depressed. once i even tried it in reverse, it starts.

when you crank it over with the key is it all slow like it's being weighed down or does it crank at the usual speed?

normal speed. it sounds almost exactly the same except maybe a little more high pitched. and of course it doesnt start :P
