Ok so i was reading through a bunch of brake threads and i can't seem to discern if there is any difference between the 86-87 calipers and the 88-89 lxi calipers. I realize that the lxi/sei front disks are bigger and the sei's have rear disks. But on the front calipers is there a difference in piston size? Also has anyone ever tried running the smaller disks with the lxi calipers?

The reason i ask is that i want to be able to run 13" wheels for autocross in the future so i don't wanna put bigger brakes on the car but i do want more stopping power. So i am already gonna upgrade to the bigger master cylinder and i'm just wondering if upgrading the calipers is worth it.

Thanks a bunch

See if the brake pad # is the same or not that would prolly tell you. I know the 10.3 brakes use a D409 pad.

I use rockauto.com to compare parts its got one of the best catalogues for that. They should list the piston size someplace on there. I used it to compare the type r calipers and ours.
