well i got the head off thanks to you people :D and i found a scratch in the no.4 piston, and a very tiny scratch in the block next 2 no.1 piston, the scratch in the piston aint that bad, im sure it wont mean anything seeing theres engraved writing in it, as for the tiny scratch in the block, could i just put gasket cement over it to seal it up? and what sa bad head gasket supose 2 look like? this 1 has a very very rough surface in the corner, but i dont know if that will mean much. im just hoping its not something major like piston rings, dat would suck :(

and i read sumwere on here that im not supose 2 flip the carb upside down other wise it wont work (dunno why that is :S) so how can i check if the head has any scratches or anything?

its hard to tell. when i took my blwon gasket off it had a clearly visable rusty spot where water could get into a cylinder. but if the gasket wasnt flat it may have leaked compression

well i did find sum brown water in the cylinder of no.2 and i found that sum of the holes in the block for the water was covered with some metal pealing off the gasket, i picked out them little pieces too. i dont know how the metal covered the holes though :S

i also wanna know, why do i need a head gasket? cant i just glue the head straight 2 the block instead?

What the hell is up with you NZers? Every time one of you posts, suddenly you're all there. Do you have some kind of crazy New Zealand 6th sense?
PS
Good luck with that new gasket, buddy!

that gasket looks nice...how much did you pay for it?and what brand is it? i also got to change a blown gasket but my uncle is going to do it. is it true it takes about 5 hours to change one...cuz that is what he told me and im going to help him like that it wont take so long.

well it did take me a while as i spent most of the time looking for tools, but it aint that hard, just disconnecting the hoses and undoing the bolts, like ddude2uc said to leave the carb and exhaust manifold atatched and it would be easier which it was, bassicly just the main head bolts, the 2 undernethe for the carb (need a few extensions there) and the 3 going into the exhaust pipe, would only take about a hour or 2 if you were organised.

as for the type of head gasket, i have no idea, theres a little paper that comes with it and says something about carbon fibre being very delicate (meaning head gasket) i thought CF would just burn up lol. but yeah, dont really know much about it

oh yeah, payed $52.94 + GST $6.62 = $59.56, cheaper than i thought, i was expecting around $70 - $100.

i also cleaned my pistons to be a bit shiney, i like them now :D

Get you a torque wrench when you put that head back on. Snug up the bolts lightly at first. Then torque the bolts to 22 ft. lbs. in the torqeing senqence., then torque to 49 ft. lbs. on the second pass. Use a six pointed socket. Also, use 1/2" drive tools if you can.
Edit- Clean up the head bolts & especially the bolt holes in the block. (there is a trick I know, but you don't have a cutting tool I'm sure)
