i dont know if anyone else has had the problem of the rear window trim pealing or not. the plastic or rubber coating that mine had was cracking and comming off on it. so i decided to scrape all of it off today and polish it out to match the side window trim on the doors. here's a pic. i'll try to get some more when its not night time. i still need to do the top piece but i didnt have time. and i need to get something to hold it on because its kinda glued in place.

My back window's passenger side trim fell off, I'm still trying to locate a few new clips to hold it on, and the incompetent people at the dealer keep ordering the wrong ones :(

Beaver

Yeah I think they stick onto the body and then the window trim slides over it. Thank you so much! I would really appreciate that man, I kid you not, 3 honda dealer techs have ordered the wrong ones for me. My address is 1465 NW division st. #1 Corvallis, OR 97330.

yeah mine is pealling off too...my auto shop teacher told me to use laquer thiner to take it off. but it took to long so i only did half of it. it would look better when its chrome since i might get my windows tinted

i dont think laquer thinner would work too well. even paint stripper might have some problem getting the plastic coating off the trim. i resorted to a heat gun and razor blade to scrape it off, then used a wire rotory wheel to get what was left off. then i went over it with a polishing wheel and that ended up getting all the rest of the stuff off and polishing the metal as well. i think its stainless steel, not aluminium or chromed steel. i dont think i'm going to do the top part anytime soon, it looks fine without it done. now it looks like everything matches since the door windows have the polished trim on it also.

thanks for the tip. i might do that also. i like the speakers in the rear. if i wasnt so tight on money i would paint my car but its a 600 buck paint job. so i just going to primer all the dings then see if i get a better job

yeah, same here. i dont have much money to speak of to spend on my car at the moment. so i'm pretty much doing stuff i dont have to spend money on. i already have the polishing compound and felt polish wheels for my hand held rotory tool. i'm also doing a set of rims with that, i just need some more of those felt wheels to get it all done. and then a bit of paint and clear coat. i'm probably not gonna paint my car up anytime soon, but i do plan of fixing the air conditioning in about a month at school.

I repainted my rear trim with bumper paint and a few layers of clear. Here's a shot of the finished product: http://zakm.hotbox.ru/car/103105-RearTrim.JPG

Just scrape, light sanding, mask, and spray. I also redid my antenna base in the same fashion.

yeah man i agree...it would stand out more if you have dark tint next to the polished trims. that is how my uncle plans on doing it.

wait a sec, is there anyway to take off the moldings (both the windshield, {i hope is rather basic...} and the windows one...)

thanks a bunch!

ok the way you take off the window trim correctly from the side windows. on coupes at least.

1. there are two bolts on the side of the corner window. take them off and the black cover will just slide off

2. there are two more screws holding the actual glass under there. lossen them but dont take them off.

3. go inside the car. on the c pillar (the ones on the back) you'll see a lil tab that should come off with just a bit of tuggin covering the bolts for the handle that opens the corner door. take the two screws out of there and be care ful not to drop the glass on the floor (for obvious reasons). then just remove the two screws from step 2 and the glass should just pull off

4. after the glass is off...there are two screws that are going to hold the trim piece in place. one is obvious and the other is on the actual corner towards the back.

5. after all the screws are gone the trim piece should just slide/pull off towards the front of the car. now be really careful cuz you might break the clips and thats not a good thing. i broke like three so i know how crappy it looks after the clips are gone. but some automotive cement adhesive took care of that

6. paint your damn trim piece. if there is any of the rubber residue on it scrape if off. a lil light sanding, then prime, then paint. voila!

7. reverse the steps to put everything back together!

you can thank me by sending 2 bucks thourhg paypal

lol

oh and the moldings from the windwhield should not be messed with uless youre a pro. why? well because they actually serve a purpose, holding the damn windshield in, and you dont want to fuck that up
