View Full Version : 5th Annual CT MEET

88LXi68
05-02-2006, 05:32 AM
Details:
WHEN: June 18th SUNDAY
WHERE: Marcus Dairy
5 Sugar Hollow Rd
Danbury, CT 06810

The meet is organized by Honda-Tech and it is usually the 2nd biggest Honda meet in the Northeast, first being Honda Day at Englishtown.

It would be really cool to role up with a bunch of 3geez and not be the only old Accord for once.

$5 Donations for the insurance that Honda-Tech gets on the lot would be great. You can send them directly to them or we can send one large lump sum from "3geez"

Good point about father's day, I didnt realize it was the same day.

Victor, we dont need to get there early; I have gone early before and it is not worth it. More cars show towards the end so I say midday...

is anyone close enough the bring a grill. we need to bring a bunch of food cuz i remember last year being hungry as shit and the lil food store was packed

88LXi68
05-17-2006, 07:52 AM
I am not sure if we are allowed to grill there because technically Marcus Dairy has their own food there.

Maurice...I would love to see you ride your bike 3-4 hours straight and then be able to walk around comfortably.

Whistler225
05-17-2006, 08:26 AM
well, according to that thread you linked to, grills are a no-no....which sucks if they just have a little concession stand or something. But hey, that doesn't mean you can't bring a little cooler and cold-cut sandwiches SQ. That's what I'll probably do.

I live 25 minutes from Marcus Dairy, and try to go there Sundays when the weather is nice on my '73 Honda CL450. There should be a bunch of bikers there since it's a Sunday, but the riders are usually gone by around noon. I'd say that typically you'll have at least a hundred bikes at any one time, people standing around admiring, the usual.

Marcus Dairy is a real dairy, with cows (someplace else), but a big tank for the milk, and a fleet of milk delivery trucks for that old-fashioned milk delivery service that's disappeared most other places. There is a restaurant there, with booths and a serpentine counter. It seats about 100, but there is a wait for a seat on a typical Sunday. Really depends on the weather, as most of the bikes stay away if its rainy, just like me. They used to have "Super Sunday" 3 times a year, and then it was 5,000 bikes. The adjoining shopping center complained, so the event moved somewhere else.

The dairy is right at the intersection of Rt 7 and I84. Easy on/off, and the local cops are generally cool (many of them are bikers), but....on the local streets they will bust you if you are tearing around the residential neighborhoods, so take it easy there.

I've never seen someone with a grill out, so maybe they aren't allowed because of the restaurant. In any case, Marcus has been more than supportive of a lot of groups that aren't too welcome other places. They deserve our help, and patronizing the coffee shop is one way to do it. It's a good place.

You are absolutely right, but we will be in the back lot and the bikers stay in the front.

Does anyone know what the entry fee is? Not for the show, but just to get through the gate as a spectator?

Any pick n' pulls in the area?

cool deal. I know my car wouldn't win any contests (unless it's for "needs most work" maybe lol....)

Well, I will be there. And I might have a nice surprise for members who show up.

I'll be going as long as something doesn't come up between now and then. Hopefully I won't be on call that week. That's the only thing I can think of that would put a damper on it.

About 15 miles south of Marcus Dairy are two junkyards in Norwalk. Unfortunately, one of them a couple of years ago banned the pick n' pull guys, because too much stuff was getting ruined. They said the last straw was when they had an Acura trunklid and spoiler sold for a few hundred bucks, and intercepted someone coming out with the spoiler, which he had pulled out by the roots (you had to say what you were going in for when you went back there). So now it's stop at the front and ask for what they might have....the price is waaaay to high, always. Too bad, because I had been prowling at this place for 30 years. Place's name is LeJoie's.

Another place, much smaller is called LeBlanc's. They have cleaned it up too, cars aren't piled on top of each other but are on racks or parked neatly. It's still pick and pull. Kinda short on 3G's last time I was there, but they had two Sterlings (go figure).

South of Marcus is really the high-rent area anyway. Maybe someone knows if there are yards either in Waterbury (a suitable depressing place) or possibly Danbury (used to be depressing, but has come back). Other than that, I don't think there's too much around.

I would come guys but I'm having issues with my head. The guy who owned the car before discovered the 2nd spark plug hole was stripped and so he tapped it by hand and tried to put in a sleeve. Needless to say, now it's junk. I'll try to make the next one if I can get all my shit together.
