I just asked a power steering question like 3 days ago. I was told that the power steering fluid lubes the system, so i guess if you didnt have any it could happen, but im not positive.

I just cut the fluid lines that went to the pump and looped them together with a barbed brass fitting and some hose clamps.

You may have to use a hack saw to cut the fluid lines rubber+metal braiding inside the hose... they are very hard to cut. I was using a pair of metal sheers.

When i just disconnected the belt it didn't feel too bad, it just sucked to park. I know a lot of it was the fluid pushing back through the lines. How much of a differance between taking off just the belt and disconnecting and looping the system?

I dunno, I didn't want the PS pump in because it was a waste if I wasn't going to use it. so I never tried it with just the belt removed.

i took it one step further and also looped the lines that normally go to the speedo sensor. :) turning is tough-ish at parking lot speeds, but at 15 mph + it feels AWESOME!~

i drove my accord 2.0si with a a20a motor that coodnt fit a power steer pump cause the pulley was wrong for a year and had no issues.. there was no fluid in it at all..it was just hard to steer...naturally...
