No, its a S&S header. It was definatly worth the $210 shipped that i payed for it. Yea, its the one from ebay. What do you think my whp is with the current engine mods i have? I think I will get it dynoed in a week or 2.

id say youll prolly get 105-110 whp, depending on condition of car

You should have stripped and ceramic coated them, if it's stainless its not so bad, but it's also more to help cut out HP loss then it is to be just a rust preventative. But nice :D

hmm, i was actually thinking of ordering the S&S header for my accord also. i thought it would probably be better suited for the engine and increase exhaust flow compared to the pacesetter. i dunno, but i will probably spend the extra money and get the ceramic coat put on when i order it since i plan to keep the car for a long time. anyway, tell us how the power increase feels with it installed. i'd love to see the dyno results. it would be nice to base line what you're making now, then with the header installed. how's the low end power below 3000 rpm? and then above 3000rpm, how's that feel? my engine lacks some power below 3000 rpm but doesnt really make much difference if it had much more there anyway because its still pretty good for what its got.

Could you get a peice of string, tape it to the flange, and then measure the tubes from the side view along the center of the pipe all the way to the merge, right where the 4 pipes end and they start to form into 1 pipe. I know it wont be exact but I already know the distance from the valve to the port and the flange thickness is not a big deal.

I would like to see which range they fall into.

4-1 LENGHT CHART

The numbers usually represent peak power,
it doesn't mean you wont have an increase in power at other rpms.
Also head work, valve timing, cam profile, etc. will effect these numbers
as well as your exhaust system after the header.

Lenght In Inches | RPM

28.375 - 26.000 | 6500 - 7000

30.000 - 28.375 | 6000 - 6500

33.625 - 30.000 | 5500 - 6000

36.000 - 33.625 | 5000 - 5500

...how's the low end power below 3000 rpm? and then above 3000rpm, how's that feel? my engine lacks some power below 3000 rpm but doesnt really make much difference if it had much more there anyway because its still pretty good for what its got.

On average longer tubes will bring the power lower in the rpm range. Below 3000, I dunno if you want to push it down there.
I think 3000 is a good rpm to start from with a motor like ours or if you intend to rev higher maybe something like 4000
But for low end try out a COLT Triflow and the S&S 4-1 a a custom 4-2-1. I don't like the 4-2-1's available, they have short primaries and long secondaries... I think this is more to save money on materials then to boost power.

I already installed the header. It gave me a nice power gain, i was on a back road that i take to work everyday and from one point starting at 30mph to the end point i usually get around 80-85mph, i did it today and i got to 96mph so its a nice increase. Also you can feel the diferance pulling off the line, it helped a lot with the low rpm power. My next mods will be a golden eagle cam gear from Mike's89AccordLX, and either a colt triflow or delta 272 camshaft.

I would go triflow.

I just got my Stainless MEGAN RACING F23 Header... I didn't get giped on ebay after all. :D

I think I might try the colt triflow. Glad to hear you didin't get ripped off, I have ordered like $1500 worth of stuff from ebay so far and havent gotten ripped off.

i havent used the triflow, but i can attest to the 272 being an awesome cam, and probably a lot cheaper. :) i have no reservations reccomending a 272 to people.

interesting to hear. if i'm not mistaken, a lot of members here have used the 272 cam in the A20 most times? actually i would probably want more top end power where i can use it. bottom end power isnt really too bad considering its the A20. i really need to make a parts list so i can figure in how much i need to spend on a cylinder head project.

Did the EGR pipe fit w/o modification???

I thought I read about someone having a problem w/ the EGR pipe on the S&S header. Unfortunately, "S&S" and "EGR" are too short for the 3geez search engine to handle. :(

Peace.

I couldn't get the egr pipe off the old header so i cut it and plugged the holes.

how did you deal with the ecu throwing you codes? did you do that thing that the prelude people do?

Strugglebucket

the egr won't fit. the bung on mine wasn't even the right size. here's my old thread: http://3geez.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40995&highlight=S%26amp%3BS+header

you won't get a code as long as the egr's wires are hooked up. you just have to block off the port on the intake manifold.

BTW, i was having a problem getting an o2 sensor code that i finally solved. i had sent the header back to s&s to have them weld on a second o2 bung (i have an '89) and it turns out they welded it to the wrong primary.

so my total list of mods to my header is this:
1) blocked egr
2) had flexpipe added
3) had o2 bung added to wrong primary
4) had o2 bung added to correct primary

The ecu didn't throw any codes, i just blocked off the ports on the header and the egr pipe.

i would order over the phone to make sure they have it. don't get it if you want to keep your egr. and if you have an '88 or '89 lx-i make sure they weld another o2 bung onto either the #1 or #4 primary.

I got it off ebay for $210 because no one else bid but they said it was discontinued, on their site they are $350. Its a direct bolt on.
