ive got this B16 intake manifold out of a 2000 civic si. after months of hunting for the parts it was stripped of, i finally found the fast idle valve which is for the hole behind the manifold itself. the one i got it out of was for a ZC motor which i found in a junkyard. the question i have is, the fast idle valve has a plug on the end if it, would i actually have to use it? im not completely sure as i think its not controlled by the ECU at all and is controlled by the temperature of the coolant instead

I'm using a b18 manifold, and I don't use any of the idle controls except for that one that looks like a diaphragm. It just connects to a vacuum line. The problem I had was the need for all those vacuum lines to go. So we made a big vacuum box. It works like magic. It seems to work just fine. I'm sure a fast idle will be the same from any older honda. Give it a shot. Idle's not really that big of a deal. You can adjust it with a screw on the throttle body anyway, a little bit, if you need.

the thing is the fast idle valve on the back of my manifold has a plug wire in it and i dont really know what its for... not quite sure if its useful or not

Well, not really, I'm your best friend LOL.

The valve at the back of the manifold with a 2 wire plug on it is the IACV. This is used by the ECU to control the idle. Since you have an 86 Accord, you can hook up the ECU to it or just use the external idle diaphragm and plug the IACV port on the manifold.

On the B series engines, the Fast idle valve is located UNDER the throttlebody just like in this picture

external idle diaphragm? is the wiring on the IACV the same on the 86 accord as it is on the valve itself? why exactly does it have coolant passing through it?

It has coolant that goes through it so it won't freeze and jam during winter.

For the wiring, I don't know if it's the same but I think that some members hooked their 86 wiring to the newer style IACV.

i bought a B18B throttlebody and for some reason the fast idle valve isnt under the throttlebody or on the throttlebody at all

one wires black/yellow while the other ones blue/yellow. on the factory service manual the black/yellow is positive, so would the other one be negative? trial and error i guess...

It doesn't NEED to be on the TB. Depending on if it's the VTEC B-Series or the Non, it's different. The B18A/B manifolds don't have IAB, so there is room for FITV on the manifold. But the B16 and B18C need the extra space for the larger runners.

my tb doesnt have that either and its from a b18c but was used on an ls, could they have taken it off?? doesnt really matter i guess since it runs good how it is right now.
