obd1 and the electrical load detector..

The ELD is the other thing in addition to the VSS that is not compatible as stock with obd1. I am trying to figure out if the ELD is why my idle is so retarded. It constantly revs up and down, revving up maybe at least 10 times in a row at a stoplight before dropping down to 800 or so rpm. The ELD code is the only code I have left. I already changed my IACV, same thing. I also tried to adjust the idle bypass screw on the TB, just made it worse. If the ELD is really what's causing my incredibly annoying idle, I need to figure out how to fix that..

Any ideas, anyone? I know I'm being lazy, I haven't researched this yet, but I'm hoping it will be an easy fix that someone already knows, like the VSS fix.

The ELD is not the problem all you need to do is either figure out how to swap a civic fuse box or turn it off with a chipping program in the ECU, I had the same code and my car idled just fine. What Throttle Body are you running?

I don't see that making a real difference though. I thought it might be the pcv valve too, but no success. Same goes for crimping all the other vacuum lines too. No effect, so no leaks.
I have a feeling it does have something to do with the ELD. What does the ELD do anyway? Probably alter the idle to compensate for an electrical load, that's why I'm thinking it's that.

The 90 LS TB dose not have the valve on the bottem of it correct (jsut a spot for the coolent to run through)? If so this could be your problem. I had a defective valve on mine and I made a blockoff plate and bypassed the valve. This just made my idle even worse. SO I disassembled the valve and tightend the white piece in side and left the coolent lines bypassed, Fixed that problem. Also put your hand over the TB while the car is running and make sure that is sucks your hand in. I had the improper TB gasket and I could completely cover the TB without the car dying. THe valve has something to do with OBD1 cars.

Basically an ELD turns on and off the alternator so it is not charging when it does not need to. It detects engine load and the ecu decides how much juice the car needs before it lets the car draw current from the alternator. I drove around with a faulty one for over a year. It doesn't hurt anything.

The eld sends signal to the ecu on the elictrical load of the engineto compensate for the extra drag generated by the alt trying to generate electricity. this signals tells the ecu to bring up idle a little bit say when you have your lights on and have your stereo on also.

the eld is in the fusebox of obd1 cars. look for a rectangular plug with three wires. f I remember correctly one of the wires goes to the ecu, one to one of the power wires in the engine harness and the other ground.

The sensor itself is brown in color and you usually have to break open the fuse box to find it sitting somewhere in the middle of it where you cant see it from the outside.
