View Full Version : Wire Tucking is the Sex

Legend_master

I decided to start cleaning up my engine bay and I also wanted to try wire tucking. I did a few other things to clean up as well (Short ram intake, Integra clutch cable(shorter then the Accord one), modified the catch can, ETC...). This would definitely work with the stock engine and would look quite clean if you ask me.

Whats Required
1. Tools to remove the fender
2. Soldering Gun (you could use electrical tape, but that would be dumb)
3. The connections for the end of the wire you plan to extend (explained Further in the thread)
4. Enough wire to extend them where you want

I started by cutting both ends of a the wire I wanted to extend at the junk yard.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v667/Legend_Master/a985b250.jpg
I wired them backwards to each other with enough wire between them to extend them to the necessary length (most people just cut the harness in the car and extend it, but I did not want to do it that way)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v667/Legend_Master/e2ad59fa.jpg
I ran the wires through the fender. The wires for all the lighting were mounted in the bumper housing.

Yea me to, some of those people on H-T do some serious wire tucking. They shave all the holes that they don't use anymore and hide everything.

nah now your crazy but looks nice though

In all reality the job is not that hard all you need is wire, soldering iron, electrical tape, wire loom, and some time. If anybody wants to embark I will help them as much as I can.

Thanks, I cant decide If I want to tuck my injector wires through the manifold or I might just use the factory plastic piece that cleans them up a little bit. I know the resistor box could also be moved to the inside of the fender (actually the front bumper) on the factory a20 application.

Its about half and half between heater and AC stuff. It is different in all cars. I know the heater core and the ac parts are backwards from our cars in some of the newer hondas.

Excuse me for the off topic, but can you tell me what's this header ?
A Megan Racing ?
Your car is OBD1 (only one O2 sensor) ?
I'm desperately searching for a 4-2-1 header design for my CRX swap.
I will also go OBD1. Can you tell me a little more about where you bought it ?
PM me if you want, I really need to find a chep 4-2-1 header for a B16A OBD1.

Thanks.

Yes it is a megan racing I got off eBay. I would not suggest getting this header unless you modify the end of it to a 2.5 inch collector. Besides that I have had no problems and I only paid $150 shipped.

Edit: Little ebay search (http://motors.search.ebay.com/b16-header_W0QQfromZR40)

Since I removed the AC there was a hole for the AC water dump. I used that hole and ran the wire to the trunk.

On the Megan racing website, they sell for about $170
They also replace the header if it's defective... which is why I have the used Megan racing header for about $25 bucks and the guy that sold it to me got a replacement.
The 2" diamter pipe after the secondaries should keep tq lower in the RPM range, but as legend said you can up the diameter to 2.5" That is the maximum you should go though.
I didn't like where they placed the flex joint on my accord 4-2-1, I will eventually ditch the flex entirely and make it all 2" pipe, with 18" of added lenght to the pipe, then exit into a 2.5" pipe or muffler depending on the room available. I'm also ditching the flex because it was the part that was defective and causing the leak so I'm kinda forced either way.

Try to get a stainless from DC and they charge much much more.

I dont see why it would not be possible on the b20, Just run the wires through the fender and you are set. Just remember that I removed everything having to do with AC, Power steering, and Cruise control.

well i just moved 5 relays and a bunch of wiring to under the corner of the bumper.. these are the relays that control my fog and driving lights, 2 of them control current to the lights, one of them controls the ground to those two relays, for the master switch, and one lets the alarm turn on the driving lights. also moved the relay that lets me turn on the fan manually, while i was doing this i wired one of the several alarm sirens i have, and ran the wires to the engine compartment for the hood pin switch, the oil cooler pressure sender, and the thermostatically controlled switch for the oil cooler. i managed to cram all that in,plus the alarm siren, and the blower motor for the oil cooler and it's ducting.
i'll take the fender off tomorrow and run the harnesses in the car. really cleaned up the engine bay around the battery a lot. i am moving the odyssey bettery to a different location, other then under the other side now,so i will mount the cruise unit under there.

It would be nice if you group the smaller ones to single big loom, similar to stock setup.

actually, i grouped them as the injectors get a loom on their own, the entire ignition part gets its own loom, and then the last loom is for the stock harness(or what was left of it). in my mind as an idea, it was supposed to look fairly clean, but this is just a huge mess.

better pic, i crammed the oil cooler blower, intake box,air duct to it, 5 relays, the horn, siren, and some other stuff under there. nice and neatly wired up. took a lot of it out of the engine compartment. cruise is going on the other side http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd158/lostforawhile/S4020436.jpg
