I would like to swap the engine out of the honda for a more modern high powered one - what engine would be the simplest swap for the car b18/16, d15/16 a20a what , what will be the engine that would require the least amount of modications to make fit? trying to shoot 4 to doulbe the hp

it would take a lot of work most of it being custom made pieces

well theres guys here that have put the a20 in a 2g and apparently a civic as well so i think that would probably be the easiest since its an older engine. the more modern ones would require the mounts to be fabed up from scratch. but then again there are guys here that have b16's and b18's in their 3g with just modified mounts

must resist urge to flame...................

BAH!

A20 makes about 235whp and is a 2.0L 16v DOHC motor... can make about 300whp with just bolt ons. its a good choice for a swap...
dude just pick up a summit or jegs catalog man, A20 stuff is everywhere...

also i think u can get a crate motor for pretty cheap.

Yeah, if you get A20A3.
A20A1 makes 98. I don't know about torque.

are you planning on runing on carbs or EFi?
If you want EFI you will have to do a lot of custom EFi work, since i don't think they had EFI accord back in 81.

dude you will really have to figure all of this stuff by yourself. if you havent searched (which you really should or this thread is not going to go anywhere) the a20 has the crappiest of crappiest aftermarket support. i mean a freaking black and decker lawn mower has more shit for it than our car. the only thing you will find is headers, ignition stuff and maybe a shift knob or two. now the most an a20 has made i think is about 140 on an NA build. i dont think we have seen any numbers from the turbo guys. well at lest not any dyno sheets. but mr. AccordEppicenter is making nearly 12 secs on the 1/4 so i think it would be making pretty good power. of course his motor blew and he's now upgrading and rebuilding because he was running on stock internals. When we had our Dyno meet here in socal the member with the most mods made 120 i think. he had an IHE. but another member with just an intake, bored out TB AAAAND a Auto Tranny he made nearly the same. so posibilites are there.

if you really want to do this use the search feature. its really easy to use. to make sure you dont get every other freaking post about, lets say, pistons...make sure you select to search in somthing like technical or even just select the "search thread tittles" only feature. after only five minutes of fucking around with it you will find SOMETHING.

whatever you try good luck

Agreed.

Even in the 1 and 2 gen forums there is a lot of discussion on the topic, as well posting multiple threads on virtually the same topic is annoying as hell. I can tell you the basics, but 5 minutes of reading will tell you the same thing, as well as all the details and how we've reached the conclusions we're now at.

I've also bought parts just to see if "they'd fit." Sometimes they don't

Anyway enjoy the site and keep reading.
