10 things you hate about your 3g

i saw a thread like this on preludepower.com and thought to myself "self...wouldnt it be cool to know what the other 3geezers hate about THEIR cars?" lol. so lets hear it. i dont think a thread like this has been made here so...post up!!!


as for me

1. no turbo
2. putting a turbo on is going to cost an arm and a leg (to do it right i mean)
3. very very very very little aftermarket support
4. everything has to be made custom (which is kinda cool cuz you get to say i made it but it sucks so much to make shit
5. i want to drop it more but dont want to deal with camber
7. no keyless entry or power locks
8. no tint on my windows
9. sometimes i win in lil races and sometimes i loose...i want to win all the time! lol
10. i want 16" rims :(

of course despise all of this crap...i still love my lil car. :D

1. Interior color(I hate now, moreso)
2. No power options(both DX)
3. No horsepower
4. Couldn't mod at the time

That's really it. It'll be a little different next time.

1. The turning circle really sucks. Why Honda didn't fix this I don't know, but on my 6G it's the same way.
2. The brake rotors get warped too easily.
3. Tail lights will leak unless you put some gutter tape over the tops.
4. Worst of all, the tendency to rust out the rear fender arches.
5. The overflow bottle is way the hell down there and consequently it's hard to check the coolant level, which usually announces that it's too low by making the fast idle valve malfunction. I've been toying with rigging up a low-coolant warning light using a thermal resistor like what's in the fuel tank for low fuel.
6. Power antenna motor is a bitch to put in.
7. Irritating little oil leaks, usually dripping right over the downpipe so the cabin stinks at a stop light.
8. Having to remove the axle to change the alternator.
9. The side trim piece on the front fenders (just ahead of the door) is made from a different plastic (prob a different supplier) and discolors more quickly than the rest of the trim.
Most of these are niggling complaints...just goes to show what a great car it is.

My 87 LX Sedan:

1.) Spindle nuts that won't come off.
2.) 5000 vaccum hoses on the carbuerator.
3.) Bolts on the intake manifold that you can't put a wrench or socket or anything on.
4.) Can't pull the lower control arm off of the steering knuckle.
5.) The previous owner let an ant farm grow in it, so every time I do something on the car, I get ants all over me.
6.) It smells horrible inside. Again previous owner broke out the back window and let it sit in the rain.
7.) No keys, was an abandoned vehicle.
8.) Ignition is hanging down on the floor, theres random electircal wires attached to the battery, going everywhere in the car UNFUSED!
9.) It's taking up space in the garage where the '84 should be.
10.) I lost the paperwork from when I purchased the car!

Overall, its a poor abused little car that had no chance. Might as well take the parts and put them to good use. I'm still parting it out if anybody wants some parts. :)

1. everything leaked, sunroof, ps, oil pan, rad fluid, battery, exhaust, you name it...
2. car started and ran only one out of three attempts...
3. nothing worked, no ac, ps, windshield wipers, ignition...
4. one headlight was always half as bright, the flip light eventually pulled the wires apart...
5. purple interior...
6. slipping auto tranny (the 3g was my last auto)
7. as previously mentioned, absolutely no aftermarked support...
8. not very fast... last i remember, the car was running 22 second quarter miles...
9. very difficult to work on, quite cramped under the hood, everything was covered in oil, which didnt help...
10. (and should be the most important, but at the time i owned the car, i didnt realize this) the car did not hold up very well after a mild accident... now that i am married with three kids, i would now consider my old 3g unsafe...

i absoultely loved that car, was in my possesion for 10 years, and if it was still around, i would (at least my wife tells me) be driving my 88lxi over my 05 ex coupe v6 6mt... i still miss that car...

8. Need bigger intake valves (Soon to be fixed)

One thing I need to add is if you want a faster car it's gonna cost you no madder what. If thats boosting the accord or buying one that faster from the factory will still cost you more. Quit complaining and do something about it.

I have told many people I'm more then willing to make turbo kits for a fair price and still much cheaper then what you could buy one for a civic or teg. For about $3,000 can get you EVERYTHING you need for an easy 160-200whp + accord. Now go and add up all the little things you buy and ways you could scrap up money and tell your self how you can't afford it or even pick up a 2nd job if needes. It's not that you can't afford it, it's that your not trying hard enough.

3. An armrest would have been nice.
4. Hardly any aftermarket support.
5. A little more power and lower end torque would be nice.
6. So would a front lip and fog lights from the factory.
7. A little more backseat room.
8. The a/c is not as cold as my 4th gens which had twice the mileaage and never had a recharge in the 6 years me and my mom owned it. Thought it might need a recharge.
9. Wish i got better gas mileage.
10. Should have come with 15 inch alloys from the factory.

1) factory carb is designed so that the motor will commit herri kerri (wide ass open throttle) and the driver has no control over it other that switching it off. And it takes like 5 minutes to get the breather off to see what the hell is damattaa. Who the f**K idea was is to have seperate fast idle pull off from choke pull off , needs to be nuked up the poot shoot.

8) no lumbar support on drivers seat
9) electical ticks that I have not had yet but am expecting, my dim H-lites dont work, had to adjust the hi-beams so I dont get tickets.

the motor actually looked like a LT1 cut in half.

1.) could take corners well
2.)Enough power to get up an go but not enough for me to do anything stupid with it
3.)Was confortable and could hold 4 bitches
4.) Had enough room for all my dj gear + anything else I wanted to throw in there
5.) Automatic - you could type drive and talk on teh cell phone all at once

what sucked.

1.) constntly needed tuning (carb)
2.) hard to work on
3.)Powersteering went out at the worst time and contributed to causing the wreck

7. High idle in the winter until it warms up. Such a waste of gas.

you can disable the choke by tapping on the gas pedal once...

But that doesnt work, for some reason, in the winter. It does at first start-up in the summer, but in the winter when it wants to Idle really high, i have to wait until the car drops revs by itself or it will continue to high idle until its warm. Trust me on this, because plenty of times I dont feel like waiting, so I drive off w/o letting it warm up, and the car will actually drive itself, a.k.a. i dont have to press the gas pedal to make it move.

1. constant reving up and down while in park or neutral
2. oil leaks from weird places and drips right onto the exhaust
3. if i don't park facing downhill when it rains when i go to take off i get gallons of water poured onto me (not fun when it is hotter than shit out)
4. suspension squeaks terribly (of course it has been lowered for 3 years now)
5. tranny is messin up (when going around corners and giving it gas all it does is rev up higher without kicking into gear)
6. doesn't seal up tight somewhere (gravel roads suck balls)
7. rust around rear fenders
8. front bumper barely hanging on
9. power steering doesn't work (helps build up your muscles without goin to the gym, so i kinda dig it)
10. power antenna doesn't work (because i can't think of anything else)

but in all honesty someone wanted to buy my car and i just couldn't do it.. i'm not sure what it is about her.. just love it ... for everyone of those problems there are 10 things i love about it...

9 still want more power (whitch i hope will be solved by the nos)
10 resale on a fixed up 3gee is not real great
